Thank you for printing the recent “Hoosier Opinions” regarding the current fireworks laws.

It is past time for our elected state officials to address the current approach to fireworks. My family lives in downtown Bluffton near the post office and this year we endured six days of fireworks by a neighbor. As city residents, we need more restrictions on the number of days and types of fireworks allowed. Multiple days of listening to large mortars that rattled our windows, disturbing our children and pets for far too long, and littered our house and yard with fireworks debris.

Our local officials need to have the opportunity to institute common-sense, local approaches to fireworks which are allowed under the current state laws because unfortunately, a few folks lack common sense when it comes to fireworks and are allowed to disturb entire neighborhoods.
