The Bluffton Parks Department held its annual paper skyscraper contest Thursday afternoon. Two teams had an hour, numerous rolled newspapers and masking tape to construct a tower as high as possible. Participants split off between boys and girls, with the girls’ team taking the prize with a 14.5 ft. skyscraper. Pictured above is the winning team, Dessie Fritts, Libby Arnett, and Izzy Irelan. Parks Department Assistant Superintendent Karla Fritts measures the boys’ paper skyscraper, which toppled just before being measured.
If it had remained intact, shown above, Fritts said it would be just a few inches short of the girls’ skyscraper.
