Larry R. Kershner, 82, of Montpelier, passed away at 11:43 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2023, at the Bluffton Regional Medical Center in Bluffton.

He was born on Thursday, July 25, 1940, in Hartford City, Ind. He married K. Kay (Ickes) Kershner on Sunday, July 25, 1965, at the Montpelier First United Methodist Church. Larry was a 1958 graduate of Chester Center High School. He spent his early years in Chester Township in Wells County. He attended Ivy Tech to become a licensed electrician and electronics technician. He started at Franklin Electric in Bluffton in October 1958, and served them as maintenance electrician for 64 years. He was a member of the IUE Local 848802 and the Montpelier Masonic Lodge #600 F&AM. Larry enjoyed aeronautics, flying, electronics and I.U. basketball.

He will be sadly missed by his wife, K. Kay (Ickes) Kershner of Montpelier; children, Gina Kershner (Chris) Fieber of Huntersville, N.C., and Troy S. Kershner of Montpelier; grandchildren, Anthony Mortimer of Hartford City, Travis Cunningham of Gas City, Ind., Garrett Cunningham of Gas City, Marissa Kershner of Bluffton, Ashley Fieber of Huntersville, N.C., Malaina Culbertson of Van Buren, Ind.; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Lee E. (Bobbie) Kershner of Bluffton, Sharen (Steve) Smoot of Sevierville, Tenn., Karen (Neil) Mowery of Bluffton; and 16 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Edwin Kershner and Dorothy Marie (Albertson) Kershner, and beloved puppy, Momo.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 1-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W Windsor St. in Montpelier. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Montpelier Masonic Lodge #600 F&AM at 7 p.m.

A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, with Pastor Bob Bothast officiating at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
