City:
Thursday, 4:38 p.m., residence in the 400 block of East Horton Street. Report of four juveniles outside of the residence threatening to beat up a juvenile inside the residence. Officers responded. Situation calmed. Officer spoke with the youth about leaving each other alone.
Thursday, 6:47 p.m., The Garage, 126 N. Main St. Dutch Mill Plaza, 360 N. Main St. Caller reported a homeless man digging around in a dumpster. Officers responded but whoever it was had left.
Thursday, 5:18 p.m., ProFed Credit Union, 1644 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. Alarm tripped accidentally.
Thursday, 6:47 p.m., The Garage, 126 N. Main St. Juveniles arguing over a possible stolen bike. Officer responded to the scene. Situation calmed.
Thursday, 7:15 p.m., Wells County Public Library, 200 W. Washington St. Report of 10 youth walking back and forth across the street not allowing traffic to pass and making obscene gestures at drivers. Officer responded and at least one of the youth was cited for disregarding a stop sign on a bicycle.
Wednesday, 9:52 p.m., 600 block of North Main Street. Report of a man walking on the Interurban Trail screaming and striking the signs on the trail. He also smashed a bottle on the trail in the 700 block of North Main Street. Officers located the man and arrested Joseph Kneeland, 35, Bluffton, on one count of public intoxication, a Class B misdemeanor, and littering, a Class B infraction. Reportedly Kneeland blew a .157 percent alcohol concentration equivalency on a Breathalyzer test. That is nearly twice Indiana’s legal limit for intoxication of .08 percent.
Thursday, 12:07 a.m., Valley Park apartments, 320 W. Dustman Rd. Report of a loud verbal altercation between a man and a woman. Officers responded. Situation calmed. Male half warned for disorderly conduct.
Thursday, 7:27 a.m., Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Semi driver pulled off into the store parking lot. Was asked by employees to leave, allegedly became belligerent and started yelling at the employees. Officer dispatched. Situation calmed. Driver warned for trespassing and for disorderly conduct.

Wednesday, 3:56 p.m., 100E near 200N. Sheriff’s deputy clocked a southbound 2005 Toyota Corolla at 81 mph-55 zone. The deputy turned around his patrol vehicle and began to pursue the Corolla but noted in his report that the car failed to stop after the deputy activated the emergency lights and siren of his patrol vehicle. The car reportedly turned east onto 100N without stopping at the four-way stop, passed a semi and another car in a no passing zone, turned onto Ind. 116 without stopping at the stop sign, continued to travel at a high rate of speed, made a right turn onto Main Street without stopping at the traffic light before finally coming to a stop in the parking lot of Family Farm and Home. The driver, identified as Tin Win Htet, 30, Fort Wayne, was ordered out of his car at gunpoint and was charged with resisting law enforcement by fleeing in a vehicle, a Level 6 felony; reckless driving, a Class C misdemeanor; speeding, a Class C infraction; two counts of disregarding a stop sign, both Class C infractions; disregarding an official traffic control device, a Class C infraction; and passing in a no passing zone, a Class C infraction. He was released on his own recognizance.
Thursday, 12:12 a.m., residence on 300S east of 400W near Liberty Center. Caller reported witnessing a vehicle drive by slowly and then fire shots, but the caller was unsure what direction the shots were fired. Sheriff’s deputies responded. The caller reported the incident had happened about 40 minutes prior to the caller placing the call. Whoever it was was gone from the area, however bullet shells were found in the roadway.
Thursday, 3:12 a.m., 800N near 400W. Caller reported hearing a steady blare of a car horn, stepped outside of his house to see what was going on and saw a car engulfed in flames. Markle Fire Department dispatched. After the fire was extinguished, a sheriff’s deputy noted that there was no vehicle identification number nor a license plate to be found on the car. Incident remains under investigation.
Thursday, 3:22 a.m., residence on 100S west of Meridian Road. Caller reported someone knocking on the door. Deputies dispatched and checked the area but saw no one.
Thursday, 10:18 a.m., residence on 350E north of 200S. Caller reported that he looked out his window to see a big red hog wandering his yard. The pig was friendly and the caller was planning to try and trap it in his barn.
Thursday, 10:54 a.m., Wayne Metals, 400 E. Logan St., Markle. Sixty-year-old male employee cut his leg. Officers, Markle Fire Department first responders and Wells County EMS dispatched.
ACCIDENTS

Thursday, 11:16 a.m., 600 block of North Main Street. One vehicle rearended another. Wells County EMS dispatched on a report that one person was suffering neck pain. Minor damage to both vehicles. Bluffton Fire Rescue was also dispatched.
County:
Wednesday, 9 a.m., 350N at the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing. Brady H. Wenger, 16, rural Bluffton, was driving a 2016 Ford Fusion west on 350N when he crossed the railroad tracks too quickly. The Fusion bottomed out on the west side of the tracks. The Fusion then went off the right side of the road. Wenger over corrected and the Fusion spun around 180 degrees counterclockwise south across the center line and traveled backwards into the yard of Linda McClish at 2446E-350 N where it struck landscaping before coming to a rest. Wenger was not injured. Damage exceeded $1,000.
FIRES
Thursday, 3:12 a.m., 800N at 400W. Vehicle on fire. Markle Fire Department dispatched. Fire destroyed the vehicle.
Thursday, 6:58 a.m., Wells County 4-H Park, 1240 4-H Road. Caller reported seeing what the caller believed was a trash fire. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. The fire was in the southwest corner of the park and was a tree stump on fire. Firefighters put out the fire.
