Thursday, 3:34 p.m., 100 block of Hickory Knoll Drive. Report that a man had picked up a girl and thrown her to the ground. Officers dispatched. Turned out they were playing.

Thursday, 5:13 p.m., 200 block of West Washington Street. Report of a group of youths cussing and trying to shove each other out into traffic.

Thursday, 9:09 p.m., 100 block of East South Street. Caller reported his neighbor ran a golf cart into the caller’s garage door.

Friday, 11:57 a.m., Bluffton Middle School, 1500 Stogdill Road. Student found in possession of two vaping pens.

Friday, 1:46 p.m., Bluffton High School, 1 Tiger Trail. Officers, Wells County EMS and Bluffton Fire Department fist responders dispatched to a report of a student in seizure.

Ossian:

Friday, 1:41 a.m., Ossian Elementary School. Sheriff’s deputy used a K-9 officer to search for a missing 12-year-old-girl. The girl returned home shortly after the search began.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Thursday, 5:20 p.m., Main Street at Cherry Street. Lindsay Schroeder, 34, Bluffton, made a left turn from Main onto Cherry, turned too sharply and her 2013 Chrysler Town and Country van clipped a stopped 2018 Ford Fusion driven by Dacia R. Irelan, 30, rural Liberty Center. Damage exceeded $2,500.

Friday, 10:43 a.m., Main Street at Wiley Avenue. Report of an accident with one of the people involved suffering minor injuries. Bluffton Fire Rescue, Wells County EMS and officers dispatched. No further details available.

County:

Friday, Aug. 29, 3:49 a.m., 450E south of 1200N. Daniel D. Heckman, 29, rural Liberty Center, was driving north on 450E. He fell asleep at the wheel, drove his 2006 Chevrolet Equinox off the left side of the road and hit a culvert and a property line stake, overcorrected and then drove off the right side of the road and into the ditch. Damage exceeded $10,000.

Thursday, 6:37 a.m., 600E at 900N. Troy A. Rigby, 43, rural Bluffton, was driving north on 600E in a 2014 Toyota Camry. He stopped for preferential 900N and failing to see anything coming because of the high corn he pulled out into the intersection, colliding with an eastbound 2011 Honda Pilot driven by Tia R. Fravel, 33, Ossian. Both drivers declined transport to the hospital but told the investigating sheriff’s deputy they intended to seek medical attention on their own. Damage exceeded $10,000.

Thursday, 3:21 p.m., Ind. 116 northwest of Meridian Road. Rita M. Wickey, 44, Markle, was driving a 2008 Dodge Charger northwest on Ind. 116 when something hit the windshield of the car causing less than $1,000 damage.

FIRE RUNS

Thursday, 5:19 p.m., caller reported seeing smoke coming from behind a building on Arrowhead Trail. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched and Liberty Township and Ossian fire departments dispatched for mutual aid. All were advised to disregard as the smoke was traced to a small fire, but not a structure fire.

Friday, 5:42 a.m., Norwell High School, 1100E-U.S. 224. Structure fire. Bluffton and Uniondale fire departments dispatched. Turned out to be a controlled burn.

Friday, 1:39 p.m., Metalco (formerly Alexin), 1390 S. Adams St. Fire alarm. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. No fire. Alarm accidentally tripped by a contractor.

ARRESTS

Juan Encarnacion Chacon, 42, Bluffton; disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor; and driving while suspended, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $3,000.

Ryan Martin Charleston, 40, Hobart; two counts of probation violation. No bond set.
