Two repaving projects and one bridge improvement project in Wells County will begin in September, after the Bluffton Free Street Fair concludes Sept. 24, a spokesman for the Indiana Departments of Transportation’s Fort Wayne District says.
INDOT plans to repave Ind. 1 from its intersection with Ind. 116 and Ind. 124/Dustman Road on the north side of the city south to its south junction with Ind. 124/Division Street just north of the Crosbie Bridge that carries traffic over the Wabash River. The other paving project is on Ind. 116 from the west side of the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks to Ind. 1.
Hunter Petroviak of INDOT said in an email that the project supervisor for the repaving work needs to update his schedule, “but he will not be starting the projects until after the street fair.”
The third project in Wells County is maintenance work on the bridge that carries Ind. 124 over the Wabash River. Petroviak said the bridge work is scheduled to start on or after Sept. 30 and be done by Oct. 7, weather permitting.
The repaving projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
The repaving of Ind. 1 through Bluffton has a price tag of $2 million while the repaving on Ind. 116 has a cost estimate of $483,303. The cost of the bridge work is $48,066.
