The annual Hazmat Day,  sponsored by the Wells County Solid Waste District, will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 11, at the Bluffton Middle School. The district provides the day to allow Wells County residents to get ride of hazardous materials.

The district’s website — https://wellscounty.org/solid-waste-districtrecycling-center — has a list of what may be brought to the site Saturday morning. They include:

Household items — Paints, flammable liquids, old gasoline, kerosene, pesticides, herbicides, motor oil, antifreeze, cleaners, aerosols, corrosive liquids/acids, mercury, fluorescent lamp and PCB ballasts, and auto and household batteries.

Pharmaceuticals —  Prescription drugs (in original labeled prescription container) and sharps/needles (all sharps must be in sealed containers such as a milk jug or original packaging container).

Appliances —  Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, stoves, washers, dryers, water heaters, dishwashers, microwaves.

Electronics ­— Monitors, CPUs, keyboards, printers, fax machines, VCR/DVD players, cell phones, and cables.

There are some items that will involve payment of a fee. They include:

Televisions —  Standard, $20; large or console televisions, $25.

Tires — There is no charge for up  to four auto tires, but a fee of $2 will be charged for each additional tire. The overall limit is 12. There is no charge for up to four truck tires, but  there is a fee of  $5 for each additional truck tired with a limit of six. There is a charge for each tractor tire (or tires over 54 inches tall) of $75 each. Tires that are still on their rims will be accepted, with an additional charge of $1 each.

The day is intended for residents only. No businesses or organizations will be allowed to drop items off Saturday.
