Tuesday, 4:50 p.m., Indiana Pancake House, 919 N. Main St. Commercial burglar alarm. Officers responded. No sign of foul play found.

Tuesday, 5:28 p.m., Pak-A-Sak convenience store, 204 W. Wabash St. Female had a seizure, fell and hit her head. Wells County EMS, Bluffton Fire Department first responders and officers dispatched.

Tuesday, 5:59 p.m., residence in the 1000 block of West Washington Street. Caller reported a strange man was standing at her door and told her he had a message for her. When she asked what it was, he reportedly told her he was a serial killer. Officer responded and spoke with the man who admitted that he had spoken with the woman but he had told her he was a servant of God and not a serial killer. The officer explained the misunderstanding and told the man he needed to go home for the night and start fresh tomorrow going door-to-door to share the message of God. The man agreed to do that.

Tuesday, 11:42 a.m. rural Poneto man contacted the Wells County Sheriff’s Office and reported that someone had called him claiming to be from the sheriff’s office and that he needed to pay money to get his sex offender registry up to date. The man knew the caller was a scammer because his registry information was up to date and he told the caller that he would put the caller in touch with the sheriff’s office to clear up the matter. The caller then hung up.

Tuesday, 1:33 p.m., 300W south of 900S. Caller reported a suspicious pickup truck pulled up to the caller’s house and then left and went to the caller’s neighbor’s house. Sheriff’s deputy responded and located the vehicle and spoke with its female driver. She was a solicitor but her permit had expired.

Tuesday, 3:22 p.m., self-storage units on 200N west of Walmart. Surveillance video captured images of a pickup truck pulling into the units’ parking lot, spinning in circles and damaging the driveway. Deputy checked out the video and spoke with a parent of the driver who assured the matter would be “properly addressed.”

Tuesday, 5:08 p.m., Covenant Chapel, 3550S-Ind. 1. Report of a man and a woman walking south on Ind. 1 pushing a shopping cart. Deputy responded and spoke with the couple. They advised they were hiking.

Tuesday, 8:19 p.m., Rose Road near 100E. Sheriff’s deputy reported coming across two vehicles parked on Rose Road. Because of its remote location, Rose Road is a hot spot for nefarious activity. The deputy spoke with both drivers. The one driver claimed to be just passing through and the other driver claimed to be exercising.

Wednesday, 8:39 a.m., Lancaster Chapel, corner of 450E and 400N. Caller reported a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt was “ducking down” and appeared to be trying to hide from passing vehicles. Deputy responded but saw no one matching the description.

Tuesday, 10:47 a.m., Main Street at Market Street.  Nancy N. Frampton, 83, Bluffton, was merging her 2019 Buick Envision sport utility vehicle into the turn lane when she sideswiped a 016 Chevrolet Malibu already in the turn lane. The Malibu was driven by Emily A. Burchette, 19, Bluffton.

FIRES

Tuesday, 4 p.m., 100S west of 200W. Small, unattended ditch line fire. Liberty Township Fire Department dispatched to put the fire out.

ARRESTS

Ryan Richard Lawson, 43, Fort Wayne; probation violation. No bond set.

Damon B. Marquardt, 18, Bluffton; possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500.
