City:

Monday, 3:03 p.m., Ind. 124 east of Main Street. Goose hit in the road but managed to make it to the front yard of Goodwin-Hale & Harnish Memorial Chapel, 3220E-Ind. 124. 

Monday, 5:19 p.m., Praxis, 1529 W. Lancaster St. Officer and Wells County EMS summoned on a report of a woman who attempted self-harm. Woman transported to Parkview Randalia.

Monday, 7:44 p.m., apartment in the 600 block of Beth Avenue. Officer requested to remove an unwanted woman from the residence.

Monday, 10:52 p.m., Kroger grocery store, 1555 S. Harrison Plaza. Caller reported he started his car, the car was in reverse gear, it jolted backward and his open driver’s side door banged into the base of a parking light pole. Damage was only to the door and he did not want to file a report, but found it suspicious that the car had been in gear in reverse.

Monday, 11:06 p.m., apartment in the 300 block of West Wabash Street. Caller reported that a male acquaintance came to his apartment. The caller let the man inside his apartment and the man reportedly punched a hole in the wall of the apartment and broke the caller’s television antenna. The man then left.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Monday, 2 p.m., Market Street near Johnson Street. Shawn M. Vaughn, 37, Bluffton, backed a 2013 Honda Pilot van out of an angled parking space and turned too quickly, clipping a 2021 Honda Odyssey van parked next to him that was registered to Shaye L. Higgins, rural Geneva. Damage exceeded $1,000.

FIRES

Tuesday, 8:06 a.m., James R. Terry residence, 2200W-1000S on the west side of Keystone. House fire. Fire departments from Chester, Nottingham and Liberty townships and from Montpelier paged. Fire caused extensive damage to the double wide structure. The owners of the home were away at work but a child was home because school had been cancelled due to the fog and his grandfather was watching him. Both were able to exit the house safely. Firefighters were on the scene for more than two hours.

ARRESTS

Jennifer Rebecca Smith, 44, Bluffton; probation violation. No bond set.

Emily Jo Neiswender, 22, Bluffton; probation violation. No bond set. She was also charged with escape, a Level 6 felony. Bond for that was set at $5,000.

Bobby Jack Speece, 42, rural Montpelier; failure to appear in court, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $5,000.
