Wednesday, 8:55 p.m., residence in the 400 block of West Wabash Street. Caller reported theft of a motorcycle license plate.
Wednesday, 10:44 p.m., residence in the 200 block of North Marion Street. Caller reported that a stranger had entered her adult son’s house and had gone upstairs. Officers and sheriff’s deputies responded. Turned out the person had been invited to the house by the caller’s daughter.
Thursday, 10:43 a.m., Budget Inn, 1090 N. Main St. Sheriff’s deputies served a warrant for arrest on Christopher J. Malone, 30, Decatur, for violating probation from a Dec. 28, 2021, conviction for theft, a Class A misdemeanor.
Thursday, 11:56 a.m., Walmart Supercenter 2100 N. Main St. Property damaged sometime between 7 and 9 in the previous evening.

Wednesday, 10:28 a.m., caller reported someone stole her identity and used it to file a tax return in order to try and get a refund.
Wednesday, 10:48 a.m., residence on 1000S west of 700W. Garage man door kicked in and numerous tools and other items stolen from the garage and the residence.
Thursday, 12:54 a.m. residence on 300W south of 100S. Verbal altercation between a man and a woman. Deputies responded. Situation calmed.
Thursday, 1:17 a.m. and 3:24 a.m., The Anderson’s, 219 W. Main St., Poneto. Shop motion alarm. Deputy responded both times. No sign of foul play found either time.
Thursday, 9:22 a.m., Ind. 1 at 200S. Deputy assisted a stranded motorist.
ACCIDENTS
City:
Tuesday, 4 p.m., Main Street near 4-H Road. Linda S. Newnum, 73, rural Bluffton, drove out of Bluffton Tire in her 2017 Dodge Journey and tried using the center turn lane as an intermediary lane in order to head north on Main Street. She attempted to merge from the center turn lane into the northbound lane and the Journey collided in same direction sideswipe style with a northbound 2010 Dodge Journey driven by Jessica G. Bennett, 32, Bluffton. Damage exceeded $2,500.
Wednesday, 8:23 a.m., parking lot of Hardee’s restaurant, 211 N. Main St. Jeffrey L. Bays, 32, Craigville, backed a 2017 Dodge Journey into a parked 1998 GMC Sierra pickup truck, the registered owner of which was not listed on the accident report.
Wednesday, 9:40 p.m., Ind. 218 south of 500W. Wells County Deputy Sheriff Maciej Zaklikiewicz, 36, Bluffton, hit a deer with a 2017 Ford Explorer owned by the sheriff’s department. Damage exceeded $10,000.
