Richard J. Meeks, 66, of Bluffton, passed away on Sunday morning, Oct. 25, 2026, at Ossian Health & Rehab Center.
Richard was born on Jan. 22, 1960, in Bluffton to John R. and Carol J. (Schoeff) Meeks. He graduated from Norwell High School in 1979. He grew up in Epworth Church. Richard worked at Dollar General in Fort Wayne and was a janitor for Clean-It Company in Fort Wayne. He was a huge sports fan, especially when it came to Indiana University basketball and Indianapolis Colts!
Richard is survived by his sister, Linda (Terry) Masterson of Poneto, a sister-in-law, Pam Meeks of Ossian, a brother-in-law David Webb of Bluffton and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Michael Meeks, and his sister, Marilyn Webb.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2026 at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home with Tony Garton officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026 and on Friday for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Norwell Athletic Program or Wells County 4-H Backpack Program and may be directed through the funeral home.
