Jo A. Corell, 80, of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, at Parkview Regional Medical Center of Fort Wayne.

Jo was born on May 13, 1946, in Huntington, to Helen (Burket) Elvin and Kermit Holmes. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1964. Jo was a hard worker with a long varied employment history, the title “Grandma Jo” being the job she loved the best.

An avid traveler, Jo experienced some truly beautiful and inspiring trips in and out of the country.

With a trip through Italy, a bike tour of California wine country and sailing adventures in the British Virgin Islands being just a few she forever cherished.

Jo had a passion for art, as an observer and a participant with her many watercolor classes.

She also had a love of poetry, literature and most importantly, really good, delicious, well made food! Jo was always up to go out for a meal with friends and family. She will be missed dearly.

Survivors include her daughters, Christy Summers of Marion and Jill (Bren) Ramsey of Fort Wayne; along with two grandchildren, Hunter (Jocelyn Tellez) Schreiber and Braden (Madison) Schreiber. She is also survived by her brother, James Holmes of Fort Wayne; and a sister, Kathy (Pat) Sellers of Marion.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond E. Corell; a brother, Donald Holmes; and a sister, Susan Smith.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to PBS of Fort Wayne or Sky Dog Ranch and Sanctuary and may be directed through the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Lemler family of Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Friends may share online condolences with the family at www.thomarich.com.
