While scoring a hole-in-one is not all that unusual — Bruce Imel of Timber Ridge Golf Course reports there have been five there in the past three weeks — Doug Dunwiddie and Doug Kinsey scored consecutive aces on Timber Ridge’s No. 17, one of the most challenging par-3s in the area. The two were playing in two separate groups in a Monday night league, with Kinsey’s group right behind Dunwiddie’s. “I don’t know what the odds are of two consecutive aces like that,” Imel says, “but for two people with the same first name, I doubt anyone has ever calculated those odds.” Dunwiddie used a 6-iron for his 165-yard shot from the senior tees while Kinsey made his ace from the 180-yard regular men’s tee with a 5-iron.
