The first order of business at the Power of the Purse event Thursday at the Timber Ridge Event Center was to scope out all of the 24 designer purses that could be bid upon, pictured above.
The next order of business was to head to the buffet table for selections of appetizers, salads and desserts as Arvilla Rodenbeck did, pictured above. Later it Arvilla’s lucky tickets earned her two purse packages.
Below, those attending were welcomed by organizer Tamra Boucher (right) with United Wayne Director Ben Rinkenberger (left). Rinkenberger emphasized the importance of early learning programs in the county as well as that of the Imagination Library — both projects of the United Way.
Below, winner of the Power Purse package, valued at $2,500 was Laura Linderwell, at left, shown with her daughter Kianna. Sponsors of this package were Arrow Insurance, Indiana Michigan Power, National Oil and Steffen Oil. It was hoped the event would raise $50,000 that could be matched by a Lily grant.
