The Norwell Junior Baseball League is kicking off the baseball season with growth both on and off the field.
According to a press release from the league, coaches, board members and friends worked together to make improvements to the Ossian ball diamonds earlier this month. Of these, new stone in driveways and spectator areas, new roofs on T-Ball dugouts and preparation for a new storage shed and concession stand were highlighted.
192 players across all age groups participated last year. That number was hit out of the park in what the league is calling an “astounding increase in participation” with 338 players joining the league this season.
The league also extended gratitude to local organizations Stone Street Inc, Hulvey Trucking, Krumma-Sorg Excavating and Lowes for their donations and services. The release states that the league is offering local businesses and families a space to display their name or logo on the new storage shed in exchange for a $500 donation.
The Ossian Minor League and Northern Wells Junior Baseball League combined forces two years ago. The league said that rebranding as the Norwell Junior Baseball League reflects their commitment to unity and community cohesion.
