Knights win home NE8 girls’ golf match over Vikings
The Norwell girls’ golf team won in a NE8 girls’ golf match over Huntington North 183-216 at Timber Ridge Thursday.
The Knights were led by Ellie Gatton with a 39 and was the medalist. Following Gatton was Anna Dodane with a 46, Nevada Lenwell (48), Emmy Heaston (50), and Emma Dodane (52).
Norwell will have another NE8 match coming up at Columbia City at starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Knights earn NE8 boys’ tennis win over Eagles
The Norwell boys’ tennis team won on the road in its first NE8 Conference match of the season on Thursday.
The Knights, now 6-1 on the season, won 4-1.

Tigers sweep Golden Falcons in boys’ tennis
The Bluffton boys’ tennis team swept Winchester on the road Tuesday night.

• Anthony Hartman defeated Cooper Hummel 6-4, 7-5 at No. 1 singles.
• Ben Maggard defeated Foster Kratoska 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles.
• Nolan Lambert defeated Aiden Mendenhall 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles.
• Kade Abbett and Dane Schlagenhauf defeated Jayden Beeson and Levin Hines 6-4, 1-6, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles.
• Coy Lantz and Jacob Ribich won by forfeit at No. 2 doubles.
There was not a junior varsity match due to insufficient players on Winchester.
Bluffton will be at West Noble starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept 2.
Tigers earn 2nd volleyball win, topping Squires
The Bluffton volleyball team defeated Manchester in a five-set thriller at home. Thursday night.
The Tigers (2-7) won the first set 25-19, lost the second 27-25, lost the third 25-21, won the fourth 25-18, and won the fifth to win the game at 15-10.
Stat leaders on the night were Maryn Schreiber with 12 kills, Haley Gibson with 32 assists, Isabella Stout with two aces, Konley Ault with five stuff blocks, Marly Drayer with 34 digs, Madyson Sonnigsen with two aces and Claire Craighead with two aces.
The junior varsity team was swept by the Squires 25-6 and 25-19.
Stat leaders for the junior varsity team were Isla Gibson with two kills, two assists, and one stuff block. Rylynn Penick with two aces, Addison Gehring with five digs, and Sophie Eisenhut with one stuff block.
Bluffton will be back on the court at Jay County for a 7:30 p.m. start on Tuesday, Sept 6.
Knights earn draw with Patriots in girls’ soccer
The Norwell girls’ soccer team tied 1-1 on the road against Jay County Thursday night.
Makenzie Fuess scored the only Knights’ goal, assisted by Morgan Batdorff.
Gracie Rinkenberger was in net for Norwell.
Norwell will be at Kreager Park to face North Side at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2.
Raiders fall to Starfires, Warriors in girls’ golf
Southern Wells fell to Woodlan and South Adams at Dogwood Glen Thursday.
The Starfires won the three-team meet with a score of 224, Woodlan second at 234, and the Raiders third at 239.
Leading Southern Wells was Kolbie Beavans with a 57, followed by Collena Reeves (59), Caroline Ripperger (60), and Erika Beavans (63).
Southern Wells will be at hine against Canterbury starting art 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 7.
Knights fall to RV Starfires in volleyball match
The Norwell volleyball team lost to RV South Adams at home Thursday night in four sets.
The Knights (8-3) lost the first set 26-24, lost the second 25-15, lost the third 25-18, and lost the fourth 25-16.
Stat leaders for the night were Macie Saalfrank with six kills and 13 assists, Jordyn Xayyachack with 21 digs, Mallory Falls with three blocks, and Emma Vachon with four aces.
The Knights won the junior varsity match 2-1 26-16, 20-25, and 15-6.
Norwell will be at Bishop Dwenger at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept 5.
