The Wells County Public Library takes its mission to “provide the community with access, knowledge and growth” very seriously and offers a variety of events each week for kids, teens, and adults.

Bad Art: Try It Night 

At the Main Library (Bluffton): Monday, July 31, 6:30-8 p.m. 

Adults and teens. Receive an art prompt and create a masterpiece with leftover supplies. Creativity and imagination will be key. All supplies provided. Registration required.   

Summer Reading Pool Parties 

Tuesday, Aug. 1, 10 a.m. to noon, or Sunday, Aug. 6, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Complete your Summer Reading and get a ticket to attend a pool party at the Wells Community Pool. The Sunday time is a reschedule from the July pool party that couldn’t be held. 

Adult Summer Reading Party

Adults. Complete your reading log and you’ll get a ticket to attend the Adult Summer Reading Party. Registration appreciated. 

Book Discussion: “Fried Green

Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café” 

At the Main Library (Bluffton), Thursday, Aug. 3, 6:30 p.m. 

Adults. Pick up a copy of the book-of-the-month at the library before the discussion each month. The group will be meeting a week early in August and discussing the book “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café” by Fannie Flagg. Registration appreciated.  

Teen Summer Reading Party 

At the Main Library (Bluffton): Friday, Aug. 4, 6 to 7:30 p.m. 

Grades 6-12. For all the teens who have completed the Summer Reading Program (by reading 500 pages or more), come enjoy an after-hours party just for you! We will have a night of pizza, snacks, and games ranging from the Nintendo Switch to our giant yard games. Maybe even some hide-and-seek or Capture the Flag? We want to make sure that we will have enough food and supplies, so registration is required by Tuesday, Aug 1. Teens need to be picked up no later than 7:45. 

Bingo with Jason 

At the Main Library (Bluffton): Monday, Aug. 7, 3 to 4:30 p.m. 

Adults. Enjoy a lively game of bingo for a chance to win a candy bar with Jason! Registration required.   

Teen Gaming Club 

At the Main Library (Bluffton):  Monday, Aug. 7, 6 to 7 p.m. 

Grades 6-12. Enjoy a variety of different games each month. Bring your own device or play the library’s console on the big projector screen. Gaming club is also open to trading card games and board games. No registration needed. 

 Computer and iPad Club 

At the Main Library (Bluffton): Tuesday, Aug. 8, 1 to 3 p.m. 

Adults. Start with Computer Club and then go or stay for iPad Club. Each month has a different tech focus and there is plenty of time for questions. All skill levels are welcome. Computer Club this month will focus on zip files and iPad Club will be talking about Google Maps. Registration appreciated.  

Cook, Talk, Taste 

At the Main Library (Bluffton): Tuesday, Aug. 8, 6 to º7 p.m. 

Adults. Enjoy the tastiest club at the library. Each month will feature a different theme and hostess. Registration appreciated.  

Brown Bag Book Club 

At the Main Library (Bluffton): Monday, Aug. 14, 1:30 p.m. 

Adults. Held the second Monday of each month. For August, participants can read any book with “heat,” “hot,” or “summer” in the title and bring it with them to discuss. Registration appreciated. 

Fort Wayne Museum of Art and Black Pine Animal Sanctuary Passes 

The library has two new passes that can be checked out with your library card to add entry into various museums. A Family Pass to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art provides entry for up to two adults, as well as children under the age of 18 that are at the same address or entry for up to two adult grandparents at the same address and their grandchildren. An individual pass to the Fort Wayne Museum of Art can also be checked out and provides free admission for an adult. There is also a family pass and an individual pass that can be checked out for the Black Pine Animal Sanctuary. The family pass entitles two adults and two children/grandchildren that are ages 18 and younger free admission to a regularly scheduled guided tour offered May through October. The individual pass entitles free admission to a regularly scheduled guided tour from May through October.

For children. Does your child need practice reading? Read to Oria on the first and third Wednesdays of the month from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Read to our newest therapy dog, Reddington, on the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month, also from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.. No registration needed.
