The summer concert series, hosted by the Ossian Parks Department and Horizon Events, began Saturday evening despite issues with power supply and rainfall just hours before. The show continued with approximately 150 people in attendance.

According to park board president, Jay Esparza, there were “a few hiccups” at the beginning of the show.

“Because this was our first concert, Jeff and I, we had a lot to learn and figure out on the fly.” Esparza said the crew managed to reimplement power sources only five minutes before the concert began.

The opening act, a band from Fort Wayne called Cherry Bomb, played high-energy crowd pleasers like “Stacey’s Mom” and featured colorful smoke displays during their performance. Attendees were seen dancing and singing along, many of them in golf carts.

Multiple concessions were available with long lines at Kenzie’s Coneys and Major League Creamery. Horizon Events provided alcoholic beverages where the funds directly supported the upcoming Fireworks on the Hill event July 1.

The next concert in the series will take place at the Archbold-Wilson Park Pavilion at 7 p.m. on July 8. Anyone with an interest in donating to the series or volunteering may contact Jay Esparza at 260-888-6511.
