Tigers finish baseball regular season with no-hitter

The Bluffton baseball team completed the regular season with a 10-0 win over Alexandria-Monroe at home Tuesday.

The Tigers finished with an 18-6 overall record.

The team also threw a combined no hitter, as Braxton Betancourt was the winning pitcher and threw three innings, striking out seven. Andrew Onuegbu threw two innings and struck out four.

Betancourt and Kayden King led the team with two-hit games, Betancourt with a double and three RBIs and King with  a home run and four RBIs. Pressler also doubled and brought in a run.

Bluffton will travel to Blackford High School in the first round of the sectional to face Bishop Luers (20-8) starting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27.

Knights defeat Starfires in boys’ golf match

The Norwell boys’ golf team beat South Adams 166-188 at Timber Ridge Golf Course Tuesday.

The Knights were led by Ethan Ottinger and Ashton Federspiel’s 39, earning the medalist of the match. Following the two were Derek Smith with a 41, Chase Hulvey 47, and Cooper Sloan 49.

Norwell also won the junior varsity match with a score of 191-216.

Top scorers for the JV were Bodie Zimmer 43, Josh Adam 46, Luke Herrell 49, Grant Mishler 53, Karsen Favory 56, and Owen Wallis 59.

Norwell will face Bluffton at Timber Ridge starting at 4 p.m. Thursday, May 25.
