Bluffton falls to Southwood in softball game
The Bluffton and Southwood softball teams braved the rain on Friday night
The Knights, though, got the best of the Tigers 22-4, scoring 10 runs in the sixth inning to elevate the final score.
The Tigers tallied 10 hits in the game, with two-hit performances by Tressa Renner, Averi Petty, Claire Craighead, and Kayla Kiefer. All four also had one RBI each.
Petty was credited with the loss.
Bluffton finishes the regular season with a 7-15-1 record, an improvement of three wins from last season.
The Tigers will play in round one of the sectional against South Adams starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 22. The game will be played at Manchester High School.
Raiders rout Jets in baseball victory
The Southern Wells baseball team wrapped up its regular season with a bang, defeating Anderson Prep Academy 12-0 on the road Friday night.
The Raiders finished with a 5-18 record.
Leading the team against the Jets offensively was Jenson Nusbaumer, who had two extra-base hits and a single to go with his three RBI day.
Kedrig Sonnigsen and Rugar Holmes had doubles.
Bryar Gearheart threw all five innings with a one-hit shutout, walking only one and striking out seven.
Southern Wells will play the opening round of the sectional against No. 5 Wes-Del starting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, back at Anderson Prep.
