Motorists using Bluffton’s Main Street may want to be wary of the thoroughfare next week.

The Indiana Department of Transportation is planning to begin repairs on portions of the city’s busiest street next week, planning to start on Wednesday, May 17.

INDOT is in charge of the project because Ind. 1 is a state highway.

E&B Paving of Huntington will be the contractor for the project. The work is expected to take about a week, weather permitting.

The latest start date is Friday, May 19, with the work done before Memorial Day.

The work will go from south to north, starting at Wells County Road 200S and continuing to the Crosbie Bridge over the Wabash River.

If necessary, the road repair project will use what is called “soft closings” at intersections if necessary. Side streets will be closed at Main Street by cones, forcing traffic to find another way across or onto Main Street.

E&B will use flaggers for traffic control.
