Oh what a beautiful day this is. The sun is shining and the temperature is great!
This day, April 11, is an historic day at my house as in 1994 my father was born here in one of the many bedrooms. The house was, at the time, “The Zanesville House Hotel.” I still have the wooden head and footboard that he was born in. He was Dr. and Almissa’s firstborn and was very spoiled. Today he would be celebrating his 129th birthday. He passed away at the age of 85 in January 1980. He was the instigator of my writing history and helped much with the Zanesville History Book of 1976. I have a few books that I have had reprinted if you are interested.
Reminding you that it is time to pay your property taxes. The tax per $100 of assessed valuation is $1.7013 on the Allen County side and $1.5017 on the Wells County side. The difference is we use the Southwest Fire District. Tax installments are due on May 10 and Nov. 13. After these dates they will be considered delinquent.
Coming up: Mark your calendars for “Great American Clean Day” Up Day’ that will be held May 6. You don’t have to wait until then let’s start now. Remember we are celebrating 175 years the end of July and we will see lots of visitors.
Note: Saturday, April 22, you can get rid of your trash, scrap metal and tires for free if you are a resident of Wells County.
