Friday, 11:12 p.m., Airplane Express convenience store, 407 N. Main St. Report of a woman passed out in a car in the store’s parking lot. Bluffton Fire Department first responders, Wells County EMS and Bluffton police responded. The woman reportedly was not injured or intoxicated but reportedly has a medical condition that causes her to fall asleep.

Saturday, 7:06 p.m., Old Bluffton Cemetery, 415 W. Hale St. Car parked in the cemetery with a loud muffler. Officer responded and told the occupants inside the car they needed to move on.

Saturday, 8:18 p.m., and Sunday, 11:40 a.m. Bluffton Wastewater Treatment plant. Burglar alarm. Officers responded both times. No sign of foul play found.

Saturday, 11:37 p.m., 1000 block of West South Street. Caller reported seeing a man dressed all in black between her house and the neighbor’s house. Officer responded but did not see anyone matching the description.

Sunday, 12:20 a.m., Walgreens Drug Store, 1975 N. Main St. Bluffton police officer pulled over a vehicle after clocking it at 25 mph-45 zone northbound on Main Street. The vehicle also had its hazard lights on. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Austin L. Blessing, 24, New Haven, allegedly had crumbs of marijuana all over his lap and on the seat where he was sitting. Blessing reportedly declined taking a SoToxa test. He was charged with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in his body, a Class C misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class C misdemeanor. Bond set at $1,500.

Sunday, 10:32 a.m., 600 block of West Lancaster St. Blue Saturn Vue stolen.

Monday, 6:39 a.m., NAPA Auto parts, 643 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. Alarm tripped by accident.

County:

Friday, 5:42 p.m., residence on 200W north of 200N. Mailbox smashed.

Friday, 9:54 p.m., residence on 620S west of 1100W in Jackson Township. Caller heard multiple gunshots heard near residence. Deputy responded. Located coyote hunters nearby.

Saturday, 3:02 a.m., Mulberry Street at Higgins Street, Vera Cruz. Black car with tinted windows cruising slowly through the streets. Deputy dispatched but did not see any vehicle matching the description.

Saturday, 5:42 p.m., residence in the 1100 block of North Wayne Street, Zanesville. Gasoline siphoned from a vehicle parked at the residence.

Saturday, 11:22 p.m., 100E north of 300N. Caller reported hearing semi-automatic gun fire in the wooded area along Rose Road near Murray. Sheriff’s deputy responded and located a vehicle driving along the road, which parallels the Wabash River and has no houses or businesses along it. The deputy pulled the vehicle over. The driver denied she had been shooting a gun in the area. When the deputy asked for permission to search the vehicle, the woman denied him permission. A free-air sniff by the deputy’s K-9 partner showed no alerts.

Ossian:

Friday, 8:01 p.m., Ogden at Craig Street. Officer detained Matthew John Springer, 46, Coldwater, Mich., on a warrant for failure to appear in court. No bond set.

Sunday, 9:51 p.m., residence in the 800 block of North Jefferson Street. Ossian police officer and sheriff’s deputy responded on a report of a verbal dispute between a husband and wife over chicken nuggets. Reportedly the wife had asked the husband to step outside and then locked him out of the house with no shoes and no cell phone. Eventually she reportedly gave the man both. Officers and sheriff deputy responded. Situation was calmed and the parties were separated.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Friday, 2:50 p.m., Wabash Street at Baldwin Street. Kathy R. Gehrett, 62, 922 W. Wabash St., was driving a 2005 Ford Freestar van. Brooks N. Baumgartner, 33, 921 W. Wabash St., was driving a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. Both were backing out of their driveways at roughly the same time. Baumgartner was backed a little farther than Gehrett, but the two met in the street causing more than $1,000 damage to each others’ vehicles.

Monday, 9:37 a.m., residence in the 700 block of Zuercher Lane. Tip received that a man was in violation of a no contact order at the residence. Deputies went to the residence and met with Peter Alan Beckman, 53, Fort Wayne, who had an active no contact order for a woman who lives at the residence. Beckman was charged with invasion of privacy, a Class A misdemeanor, and taken into custody without incident. Bond set at $1,500.

FIRE RUNS

Monday, 6:43 a.m., TI Automotive, 1200 Baker Drive. Callers reporting a lightning strike and a large fire in the brushy area along the Norfolk Southern railroad tracks between the Ossian Industrial Park and Westview and Countryside drives in Ossian. Ossian Fire Department dispatched and mutual aid requested from both the Bluffton and Southwest Allen County fire departments. After arriving at the scene, Ossian firefighters disregarded both Bluffton and Southwest Allen County. About 100 yards of electrical wires were reported to be down and arcing with power out in the area. American Electric Power requested to come to the scene for repairs. AEP arrived at 7:34 a.m.

Marcus DeLorean Hill, 37, Bluffton; contempt of court on a civil matter. Bond set at $500.
