City:

Thursday, 5:17 p.m., Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Store security detained a female customer for reportedly stealing items from the store.

Thursday, 6:42 p.m., Wiley Avenue at Main Street. Large tree limb blow down in the road. Officer responded but someone had already removed the branch.

Thursday, 8:27 p.m., 305 E. Cherry St. Trampoline caught in power lines in a back alley. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched to assist in removing the trampoline. Bluffton Utilities contacted. Electric workers secured the trampoline to the electric pole with plans to get it down Friday. Firefighters on scene also reported a faint smell of natural gas in the air, but the odor’s source could not be traced. Northern Indiana Public Service Company was contacted.

Thursday, 2:21 p.m., residence on Hoosier Highway near the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing. Report of a son threatening to harm his parents.

Thursday, 5:09 p.m., U.S. 224 near Ind. 1. Internet line down across the road. Because at first it was thought by the people who reported it that it was an electric line, Indiana Michigan Power responded. An I&M employee cut the line.

Thursday, 5:19 p.m., 450E near 100N. Sign blown into the roadway.

Thursday, 500W near Ind. 218. Tree blown down in the roadway. Sheriff’s deputy responded but the tree had been removed.

Thursday, 7:28 p.m., 550S near Ind. 1. Power line down.

Thursday, 8:05 p.m., residence on Ind. 124 east of Meridian Road. Burglar alarm. Sheriff’s deputy responded. No sign of foul play found.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Thursday, 6:24 p.m., Main Street at Market Street. A 2000 Nissan Frontier pickup truck driven by Santiago A. Jaramilla Fabela, 30, rural Bluffton, and a 2016 Honda Odyssey van driven by Jennifer L. Miller, 43, rural Ossian, were both southbound on Main Street. Jaramilla Fabela was in the inside driving lane and Miller was in the outside driving lane of the two southbound lanes. Jaramilla Fabela decided to make a right turn onto Market Street and cut across the lane Miller was driving in. The two vehicles collided causing more than $5,000 damage.

Friday, 6:09 a.m., Main Street near Jackson Street. Richard E. Myers, 45, Bluffton, hit a deer with his 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. Damage to the car exceeded $2,500.

County:

Thursday, 7:17 p.m., U.S. 224 at 400W. Kristina Todd, 31, rural Ossian, hit a deer with her 2020 Kia Forté. Damage to the vehicle exceeded $5,000.

ARRESTS

Charles Edward Pempsell, 44, Bluffton; counterfeiting, a Level 6 felony. Bond set at $5,000.

Matthew Shane Nuckols, 43, Marion; failure to appear in court on a civil matter. Bond set at $500.

James Alan Stalker, 65, Bluffton; driving while suspended with a prior conviction for the same offense, a Class A misdemeanor. Released on his own recognizance.
