During their monthly meeting, the Bluffton Park Board reviewed several items in preparation for the upcoming summer season.

Notably, Parks Department Superintendent Brandy Fiechter said she has been seeking donations and grants to support their Kehoe concert series this summer.

The summer concert series will include bands Simply Queen, Eliminator (ZZ Top), The Dave Matthews Tribute Band, Crush (Bon Jovi), Dan Heath with the Paradise Band and the Cornfield Mafia, as well as a worship celebration presented by local churches.

Additionally, the board will soon be hiring for their summer positions, including lifeguards, concessions workers and more. Applications and additional information are available on the department’s website.

Other updates were:

• Fiechter applied for a grant through Lowe’s to create a parking lot adjacent to Lancaster Park and expects to hear back in June. Other grants funded the park’s construction but did not include a parking lot.

• The board will plan to open bids for the interurban trail at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 and make decisions regarding the bids at their following meeting on March 2.

• Fiechter said she is waiting for INDOT’s legal team to decide on sharing an easement with Lowe’s for the interurban trail.
