The Creative Arts Council is strengthening its ties with its theater division, and is changing the name of Wells Community Theater to Creative Arts Theater.
“This name change will be a way to strengthen programming potential while building on the foundation already established,” said Janiece Lipsey, executive director of the Creative Arts Council of Wells County. “Creative Arts’ leadership believes changing the name will provide the community with a better understanding of what is offered through the theater program – theater education and theater performances for Wells County and surrounding communities.”
Wells Community Theater began in 2002, and was incorporated into the CAC in 2011. The move, Lipsey said, has been providing a way for quality theater to become even more accessible. Not only that, the program now includes classes, youth intensives, and workshops along with various community theater productions each year.
Creative Arts offers programming in dance, music, and visual arts, Lipsey said. “In an effort to provide a cohesive framework for all the arts programming offered through the organization,” she said, “Creative Arts has decided to update the name ‘Wells Community Theater”’ to ‘Creative Arts Theater.’”
