City:

Wednesday, 4:12 p.m., residence in the 600 block of West Market Street. Stranger dumped trash in the dumpster at the residence.

Wednesday, 5:41 p.m., alley behind the 400 block of East Wiley Avenue. Report of a 57-year-old man passed out in the alley. Bluffton Fire Department first responders, Wells County EMS and officers dispatched.

Wednesday, 6:25 p.m., Hope Missionary Church, 429 E. Dustman Rd. Suspicious man sitting on a bench by the door of the church. Officer dispatched but the man had left before the officer arrived.

Wednesday, 7:16 p.m., Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Store surveillance video captured images of a person stealing merchandise from the store.

Wednesday, 11:16 p.m., Short Stop convenience store, 1009 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers and deputies responded. Alarm accidentally tripped by an employee.

Thursday, 11:52 a.m., person came to the Bluffton Police Department and reported a co-worker stole information from the person reporting the crime’s credit card and then used that information to make unauthorized purchases.

Thursday, 1:05 p.m., Connecting Center, 116 S. Johnson St. Caller noticed a man came to the door of the center but when he saw he was being watched the man reportedly ran away. The caller believed the man might have been trying to steal a package left at the door.

County:

Wednesday, 2:26 p.m., Chester Center Christian Church, 9009S-300W. Suspicious vehicle with a person inside in the parking lot of the church. Sheriff’s deputy responded but whoever it was had left.

Thursday, 7:04 a.m., 1000S between Meridian Road and 100E. Dead deer in the road creating a traffic hazard.

Thursday, 9:39 a.m., 200W between Ind. 124 and 100N. Caller reported someone abandoned a zebra-print suitcase in the ditch on the east side of the road and it had been there for two days. The caller observed that the case was very heavy and was concerned about what might be inside. Sheriff’s deputy responded and opened the suitcase, discovering the body of a deceased brindle male pitbull dog wrapped in a blanket with a shoestring around its neck and tape around its mouth.

Thursday, 2:22 a.m., Tipsy Ditch, 710 S. Jefferson St. Burglar alarm. Sheriff’s deputy responded. No sign of foul play found.

ACCIDENTS

Wednesday, 1:23 p.m., KFC parking lot, 640 N. Main St. Dale E. Schwartz, 65, rural Decatur, backed his 2003 GMC Yukon out of a parking space and backed into a parked 2016 Chrysler 200 registered to Nicole D. Fritz, Blufton. Damage estimated at less than $1,000.

County:

Wednesday, 6:10 p.m., 300N east of 200E. Kimberly M. Gerber, 47, rural Bluffton, hit a deer with her 1982 Mercedes Benz 230. Damage exceeded $5,000.
