Thomas A. “Tom” Perry, 86, a well-known resident of Wells County who resided in Chester Township his entire life, passed away at his residence at 7:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, 2022.
Tom was born in Wells County Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1936. He married Beverly Baker on Saturday, March 25, 1961, in Zanesville, Ind.
Tom was a 1954 graduate of Chester Township High School. He was a farmer and Southern Wells school bus driver for many years. He formerly worked for Hy-Line Hatchery in Warren, Kitco Inc. in Bluffton, and Sterling Casting in Bluffton. He was the former owner and operator of Perry Milk Transport.
Tom was a member of the Montpelier Masonic Lodge 600 F & A.M., the Alethia Chapter 206 Order of Eastern Star in Montpelier, the Fort Wayne Valley of Scottish Rite and the Mizpah Shrine of Fort Wayne. Tom volunteered at Signature Health Care. He enjoyed tractor pulls, 4-H horse pulls, Indiana University, and the Colts. He loved Southern Wells school events and attended The Church at McNatt.
Tom will be greatly missed by his wife, Beverly Ann Baker Perry; his two children, Deborah Ann (Stanley) Bales and Daniel Arthur (Stacia) Perry, both of Wells County; five grandchildren, Brooke (Jacob) Wickey of Poneto, Brandon Bales of West Hollywood, Calif., Morgan Perry of Batavia, Iowa, Thomas (Markie) Perry of Poneto, and Jed Perry of Wells County; three great-grandchildren, Brayden Joe Wickey, Jaelyn Nacole Wickey, and Breann Emma Wickey, all of Poneto; and a sister, Marilyn Kay Meshberger of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles “Chic” Perry, and his mother, Mary Kunkle Perry.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St. in Montpelier. There will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home presented by Montpelier Masonic Lodge 600 F & A.M.
A service to celebrate Tom’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesdaay, Nov. 16, at the Walker & Glancy Funeral Home in Montpelier with Pastor Bill Van Haften officiating. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
