City:
Wednesday, 8:26 p.m., 600 block of North Main Street. Officer spotted a man who appeared to be looking for something in the street and pulled over to assist. The man was looking for his cellphone which he had accidentally left on the top of his car. The phone was located smashed in the street.
Thursday, 1 a.m., Williams Street at Wabash Street. Caller reported he was thinking of self-harm and was walking to Bluffton Regional Medical Center. He also reported he was intoxicated. Officers located him and transported him to Parkview Behavioral Health.
Thursday, 3:40 a.m., Utz Quality Foods, 705 W. Dustman Rd. Wells County EMS and officers dispatched on a report of a female employee complaining of chest pain and shortness of breath.
Thursday, 4:07 a.m., Pretzels Inc., 123 Harvest Road. Small bag of drugs found.
Thursday, 4:10 a.m., 800 block of West Wiley Avenue. Officers searched the area for a man who reportedly contacted police threatening self-harm.
Thursday, 5:14 a.m., Wabash Street at Oak Street. Officer pulled over a vehicle and ended up arresting the driver, Robert J. Donahoe Jr., 51, Bluffton, on one count of driving while suspended with a prior conviction for the same offense, a Class A misdemeanor. He was released on his own recognizance.
Thursday, 5:45 a.m., Main Street at Capri Court. Caller reported that the paving crew on Main Street is not permitting traffic to exit onto Main Street from Capri Court. Instead the crew is telling drivers that they need to use the “back exit” from Capri. The caller wished for an officer to inform the person telling people to use the back exit that there is no back exit to Capri. Officer advised the crew to instead direct Capri Traffic through the Wendy’s parking lot to exit onto Main Street.

Thursday, 7:45 a.m., I-69 at the 292 mile marker. Sheriff’s deputy assisted a motorist in changing a flat tire after the motorist hit a nail-studded 2 by 4 piece of lumber that fell from a semi.
Thursday, 11:28 a.m., residence on 1100N west of Meridian Road. Report of a theft.
Ossian:
Wednesday, 5:08 p.m., 400 block of Parent Drive. Ossian police requested on a report of a 78-year-old man cutting branches from trees on other people’s property as well as performing other odd jobs that the people on Parent Drive were not asking to be done nor wanted to be done. An Ossian police officer spoke with the man, who reportedly gave the officer his opinion of the officer’s policing skills. He then cleaned up the reported mess he had made and left. He was warned for trespassing before he left.
ACCIDENTS
City:
Tuesday, 2:51 p.m., Main Street at Division Street. Shannon Polston, 59, Bluffton, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche north on Main Street. Tracy B. Trisel, 54, Van Wert, Ohio, was southbound on Main Street in a 2005 Peterbilt semi truck and attempted a left turn onto Division Street into the path of Polston’s pickup truck. Both drivers believed they had the right of way at the time, however witnesses backed up Polston’s statement that he had the green light, and a traffic camera in the cab of the semi showed that Trisel had made the left turn on a flashing yellow turn arrow. The flashing yellow arrow means that turning traffic is to yield to oncoming traffic, which Trisel failed to do. Damage exceeded $5,000.
Wednesday, 8:44 a.m., driving lane entrance to the parking lot of Inteva Products, 1805 W. Lancaster St. Demedrick D. Hill, 44, Fort Wayne, was leaving Inteva in a 2023 International semi registered to LGSI Equipment of Indiana, Hammond. Tony L. Baymon, 24, Fort Wayne, was entering Inteva in a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe and the semi met on a tight curve in the lot entrance and although Baymon tried to get over, the trailer of the semi clipped his Tahoe causing more than $1,000 damage.
Wednesday, 9:01 a.m., Peyton’ Northern 1111 S. Adams St. Ankit Nonamegiven, 26, Petaluma, Calif., was backing a 2018 Freightliner Cascadia semi registered to OM Truck Lines Inc., Fresno, Calif, and backed into a stopped 2020 Kenworth semi driven by Nicholas R. Klave, 30, Pine Glennie, Mich., registered to Bay and Bay Transport, Rosemount, Minn. Damage exceeded $1,000.
FIRE RUNS
Wednesday, 11:20 p.m., 2990 E. Center Dr. residence of Eliseo Martinez. Possible natural gas leak. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. The source of the smell appeared to be coming from a sewage pump that had been installed in the past two weeks. The residents were advised to contact the installer about the smell.
ARRESTS
Breanna Marie Brickley, 29, rural Bluffton; probation violation. No bond set.
Nu Zi La Mok, 53, Fort Wayne; probation violation. No bond set.
