Bluffton Board of Works to meet Tuesday afternoon

The Bluffton Board of Public Works and Safety will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the meeting room on the first floor of City Hall, 128 E. Market St.

Topics on the agenda include:

• Review of city standards.

• Utility water discussion, brought to the board by Chris Bryant.

• Updates on 427 W. Lancaster St. and 817 S. Williams St.

• Consideration of a 911 interlocal agreement.

• A request to purchase, brought to the board by Brandy Fiechter, superintendent of the Bluffton Parks and Recreation Department.

• A discussion of proposed amendments to the city’s junk ordinance, brought to the board by Building Commissioner Richard Triplett.

• A discussion of the property at 314 W. Cherry St., brought to the board by Triplett.

• A personnel matter and a funds transfer, brought to the board by Fire Chief Don Craig.

• A water project discussion with Mark Sullivan of Midwestern Engineering.

A work session will be held before the meeting, starting at 3:30 p.m., to discuss city standards with representatives of the Butler Fairman Seufert engineering firm.

County Drainage Board will meet Tuesday afternoon

The Wells County Drainage Board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

Items on the agenda include project updates and a discussion of miscellaneous drainage matters.

County Commissioners will meet Tuesday afternoon

The Wells County Commissioners will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

Topics on the agenda include:

• Reports from Wells County Sheriff Scott Holliday, Wells County Highway Shawn Bonar, and Wells County Engineer Nate Rumschlag.

• The Poka-Bache Trail Coalition, brought to the commissioners by Michael Lautzenheiser Jr.

• Citizens Against Drug Abuse.

• Wells on Wheels second quarter reimbursement, brought to the commissioners by Betsy Collier and Sandra Bayne.

• Final contract price of the highway garage bid packages.

The Bluffton Common Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 128 E. Market St.

Topics on the agenda include:

• Consideration of a city ordinance regarding golf carts and UTVs.

• Consideration of the Poka-Bache Trail Coalition, brought to the council by Mike Lautzenheiser.

• Consideration of a 911 interlocal agreement.

• Consideration of an additional appropriation ordinance.

• Discussion of hours at City Hall.

• Discussion of proposed amendments to the city’s junk ordinance, brought to the council by Building Commissioner Richard Triplett.

• Consideration of a resolution regarding a fund transfer, brought to the council by Fire Chief Don Craig.

An executive session will be held immediately following the council meeting. The purpose of the executive session was not included in the announcement of the council meeting’s agenda.

Ossian police panel will meet Tuesday evening

The Ossian Board of Metropolitan Police Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept., 6, at Collier’s, 215 N. Jefferson St. in Ossian.

Topics on the agenda are the police chief’s position, a request from an officer to go part time, and a new board letterhead.

Wells County Council will meet Tuesday evening

The Wells County Council will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Room 105, the multi-purpose room on the lower level of the Wells Carnegie Government Annex, 223 W. Washington St.

The first item on the meeting’s agenda are public hearings for the Wells County, Wells County Solid Waste District, and the Rock Creek Conservancy budgets. 

Topics on the agenda for the council’s regular meeting include:

• A transfer regarding the Indiana State Opioid Response.

• Additional appropriations for the Sheriff’s Department budget, the Drug Free Community program budget, and the Ind. 301 Road Transfer Fund.

• An appointment with Sheriff Scott Holliday.

• A highway garage update, brought to the council by Conor Jackson. A “not to exceed” project cost for the highway garage is also on the agenda.
