Bluffton firefighter Josh Hall has removed his air bottle, which is out of air, as fellow firefighter Adam Hannie looks on at a spot of still burning barn at the David and Kim Bertsch residence, 6661E-100N, Bluffton, Friday. Firefighters were paged out at 12:37 p.m. and upon arrival noted that the barn was fully engulfed. Pretty much only the metal cladding of the wooden structure was left standing by the time firefighters left three hours later. Bluffton received mutual aid from fire departments at Ossian, Uniondale, Preble and Monroe and Liberty Township was placed on standby at the Bluffton Fire Department. No one was hurt. The cause of the fire was a controlled burn which spread to the structure. Fire Chief Donnie Craig said the barn was also full of a variety of items that were damaged or destroyed in the fire.
