Gene “Termite” Taylor, 83, of Liberty Center, IN, passed away Tuesday morning, Sept. 6, 2022, at Stillwater Hospice in Ft. Wayne.
Gene was born in Huntington County, Ind., on July 25, 1939, to J. Farrell and Marjorie “Mae” (Studebaker) Taylor, both parents preceded him in death.
He attended P.A. Allen High School and served in the Army and later in the National Guard from 1957 to 1962. Gene was a truck driver for many years, driving for many local companies, retiring from Schaefer Trucking in 2021. He enjoyed helping with local farming, attending tractor pulls, playing cards at the Cowboy’s Restaurant and was a Green Bay Packers football fan.
Gene is survived by three children; Bruce (Deb) Taylor of Liberty Center, Ind., Becky (Phil) Ringger of Bluffton and Brenda (Rod) Taylor of Ft. Wayne, four grandchildren; Jenny (Travis) Markley, Adam Ringger, Amy (Forest)Feuer and Derek Taylor, nine great grandchildren, one sister; Phyllis (Roger) Gore of Bluffton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Dick and Ron Taylor.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with a funeral service immediately following the visitation at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery, with military graveside rites conducted by the United States Army honor guard in conjunction with the American Legion Post 111 of Bluffton.
