The week we have all been waiting for is here!  It’s always exciting to see the fair move into town, but this year just so happened to be the same week as our National Parks and Recreation Conference.  I’m sad to miss so much of the fair, but I’m always excited to learn new ideas I can bring back to our community.

Walk Steady for Rock Steady – Mark your calendar for next Saturday, September 24th, to walk in support of Rock Steady Boxing Bluffton and help us continue to fight back against Parkinson’s Disease! Check-in and start walking between 9-10 a.m. You pick the distance! .5, 1, 1.5, or 2 miles. All distances must finish by 11:00 a.m.  The $25.00 registration includes a T-shirt.  Forms can be found at: https://blufftonindiana.net/data/uploads/2022/07/2022-walk-Registration-2.pdf.  Optional: You also have the opportunity to raise additional funds or sponsorships to benefit Rock Steady and earn some cool Rock Steady swag! The event starts and ends at 128 E. Market St. Bluffton, IN (Bluffton City Gym)

Don’t forget to sign up for the FREE Senior Snippets program that starts after the fair – Bluffton Regional Medical Center has sponsored another exciting Fall session of weekly classes. These FREE talks will be held at different locations in town, so make a note in your calendar after signing up. Classes include a Movie/Book Club, Jewelry Making, Clutter Free Classes, Wells County History, Crochet, and a variety class.  To register, call 824-6069 or e-mail events@blufftonindiana.gov.

While we are talking about great adult programs, we should mention that the Wells County Council on Aging is offering a Senior Citizen Expo on Thursday, October 6th, from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. at the Wells County 4H Building.  Enjoy free admission, parking, giveaways, breakfast, and lunch!  LIPID panel blood work is offered from 9 – 11 a.m. and requires a 10-hour fast.  Blood pressure checks are offered all day, and an unwanted medication drop-off is available.  Questions about this program can be answered by calling 824-1070.

If you are a fan of chili, you will want to join the Bluffton NOW! during the 5th annual Chili Walk on Saturday, October 8th.  Participating businesses will supply homemade chili to taste and vote on.  Purchase a wristband for $5; registration begins at 4:30 p.m. on the Parlor City Plaza.  Drinks will be available for purchase starting at 6 p.m., then stay for a Roustabout concert from 7:15-10 p.m.  Questions about this event can be directed to Jeremy at 260 341-0785.

We will be hosting an Immunization Clinic at the Free Farm Wagon on Tuesday, Oct 11th, between 7:30-9:30 a.m. at Life Community Church.  Walk-ins are welcome – no appointment is necessary. The clinic accepts all forms of insurance (private, Medicaid, Medicare), and there is no cost for those without insurance, except for the Shingles vaccine. They will be offering Covid-19 vaccines, flu vaccines, and other routine immunizations. If you have any questions about this program, you can call or Text (317) 628-7116.

If you happen to be taking a walk on the River Greenway this Sunday, be sure to thank the volunteers at Bluffton First Presbyterian Church, who will be painting the guard rails along the trail.  Each year, they have volunteered in a “Day of Caring and Sharing,” cleaning and painting different parks for us.  We are truly blessed by this group and our community, who pitches in to help make our parks beautiful.

Have a great week!
