Clyde “Ed” Stapleton, 85, of Auburn, died at his home Friday, July 29, 2022.

He was born Nov. 1, 1936, in the town of Pennington Gap, located in Lee County, Va. He married Laura Pauline Lyons Dec. 15, 1956, in Gate City, Va. His wife survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Brenda (Steven) Woolard of Keystone, Margaret (Michael L.) Willmann of Montpelier, and Jeanette McConnell of Angola; two sons, Dewayne E. Stapleton of Angola and Dougles E. Stapleton of Auburn; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren’ and a sister, Diane Webb, 

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Clyde Stapleton; his mother, Lucy (West) Stapleton; brothers, Bob and Jimmie; and a great-grandson, Austin Kreischer.

Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the Walker and Glancy Funeral  Home in Montpelier. Services will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment will follow in the Brookside Memorial Park in Montpelier.
