INCIDENTS

City:

Wednesday, 2:14 p.m., Andrews & Crell law office, 116 S. Main St. Officer requested for an unruly customer. He had left about five minutes earlier before the call was made.

Wednesday, 10:10 p.m., Pak-A-Sak convenience store, 204 W. Wabash St. Report of a fight brewing between three female customers. Officers responded but the women had split.

Wednesday, 11:42 p.m., Spring Street at Mulberry Street. Low hanging tree branch. Street department contacted.

Thursday, 2:06 a.m., residence in the 200 block of East Ohio Street. Caller reported there was a suspicious woman standing in the caller’s back yard. Officers arrived four minutes after the call, but the female had left and could not be located.

Thursday, 3:36 a.m., residence in the 300 block of West Miller Street. Caller reported hearing suspicious sounds coming from the east side of the caller’s residence. Officers responded. No one was seen.

Thursday, 7:59 a.m., Indiana Street at Market Street. Person suffered a serious bite from a dog at the dog park. The person was transported to Bluffton Regional Medical Center by Wells County EMS. Wells County Animal Shelter contacted. Information taken for a report.

County:

Thursday, 12:11 a.m., residence on 900W south 800S.  Report of a verbal altercation between a man and a woman. Deputy responded. Parties separated. No one arrested.

Thursday, 9:27 a.m., Gilbert Machine, 5980N-400W. Caller reported her two debit cards and driver’s license from her purse, likely while she was at work.

Ossian:

Wednesday, 11:49 a.m., Ind. 1 at 1100N. While monitoring traffic northbound on Jefferson Street, an Ossian police officer spotted a Cadillac that appeared to be following the car ahead of it too closely. The officer ran the license plate on the vehicle and discovered that the registered owner, Kylee Waldron, Bluffton, had a suspended driver’s license. The officer pulled the Cadillac over on 1100N west of Ind. 1 and cited Waldron into Wells Superior Court for operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

ACCIDENTS

City:

Tuesday, 3:04 p.m., Central Avenue at Midway Street. Wade H. Combs, 25, rural Fort Wayne, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck west on Central. He came to a stop for the stop sign at Midway and then proceeded to turn left, just as Thomas M. Brown, 53, Fort Wayne, was driving north on Midway through the intersection in his 2016 Ford F-350. Neither driver was injured. Damage exceeded $5,000.

County:

Wednesday, 5:15 p.m., 200S near 350E. Brandon K. Harnish, 36, Bluffton, was westbound on 200S when his 1990 Chevrolet Corvette slid out of control on a wet spot on the roadway, slid at a 90 degree angle, and banged off a tree before coming to a stop several feet west of the tree. The investigating deputy noted in his report that Harnish was driving too fast for the weather conditions. Damage to the car exceeded $10,000.

Wednesday, 11:35 p.m., 300N near 100W. Timothy M. Black, 59, Roanoke, hit a deer with his 2014 Toyota Rav 4. Damage to the sport utility vehicle exceeded $2,500.

Ossian:

Wednesday, 4:24 p.m., Jefferson Street at Industrial Parkway, Ossian. Semi struck a car from behind. The female driver of the car suffered from “pain all over” and was taken by Wells County EMS to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. No further information was available on the accident.

FIRE RUNS

Wednesday, 2:45 p.m., 609 Greenwood Trail, Sandalwood addition, Ossian. Construction worker struck a half-inch natural gas line causing it to leak. Ossian Fire Department dispatched. Firefighters stood by until a crew from Northern Indiana Public Service Company could arrive to repair the leak.

ARRESTS

Todd Joseph Craigmiles, 48, Berne; possession of drug paraphernalia. Released on his own recognizance.
