Carrie Penrod

The News-Banner has created a new paginator position to help design the daily newspaper as well as assist with other internal processes.

Carrie Penrod of Montpelier started in late May by designing pages, copy editing and preparing content for publication. She will also be working on the newspaper’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

While most of her work will be done in the News-Banner office during the evening, due to her interest in photography, she may be seen around the community adding to local coverage as needed behind the camera.

Penrod is a recent MFA graduate from Mississippi University for Women and earned her bachelor degree in English from Indiana University.

A writer of poetry, she spends most of her time as a freelance writer for several blogs and newsletters across the internet. She said when she isn’t writing she’s painting, thinking about how she should be writing, and editing.

“Carrie has already added a fresh perspective to our content management systems that I think readers will benefit from,” Editor Jessica Bricker said. “We are glad to have Carrie on board in this new position. Her experience and knowledge will help us improve the way we deliver our community news.”
