BERNE – Bluffton’s boys’ and girls’ track and field teams both placed second in Friday’s South Adams Invitaitonal. 

The Tiger boys scored 93 points, trailing Minster (Ohio), which scored 113. The Lady Tigers scored 93.5 points, only losing to South Adams, which scored 109 points. 

The Bluffton boys were led by Gus Martinez, who finished as the high point scorer with four first-place finishes. He won the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, long jump, and 100 meter dash. 

Carter McConnell won the 400 meter dash, placed third in high jump, and took fifth in the 200 meter dash. 

Bluffton’s Olivia Pula runs the final leg of the 4×100 meter relay.

Markis Crosbie finished fourth in the 800 meter run. Andrew Hunt finished sixth in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. Johnny Cruz finished third in shot put, and Jacob Landis finished third in discus. Tavin Frees finished sixth in discus. 

The Tigers also placed second in the 4×800 meter relay, third in the 4×400, and fifth in the 4×100.

The Lady Tigers were led by Leslie Sprankles, who took first place in the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 meter runs. 

Lauren Reiff won the discus and finished third in shot put. Alexandria Mackenzie finsihed second in shot put and third in discus. Ryleigh Johnson finished second in the 400 meter dash and fifth in the 200 meter dash. 

Haley Gibson finished fourth in the long jump and Olivia Pula took fifth, Elsa Corkwell finished fifth in the 100 meter hurdles, and Maryn Schreiber finished sixth in the 800 meter run.

Bluffton’s girls also finished second in the 4×400 meter relay, third in the 4×100, and sixth in the 4×800.

Norwell’s teams each placed third, with the boys scoring 80 points and the girls 84.5. 

Trevon Stoppenhagen and Jake Parker led the way for the Norwell boys. Stoppenhagen finished second in the 100 meter dash, third in the 200 meter dash, and sixth in the 400 meter dash. Parker finished in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. 

Kyle Zeddis was the Knights’ lone event winner, taking first place in the discus. He also finished fourth in the shot put. 

Drew Ringger finished second in high jump, Timothy Bonjour placed furth in the 200 meter dash, Bobby Kwandreans finished fifth in the 800 meter run, Andrew Eubank finished fifth in the 110 meter hurdles, Hayden Bennett finished fifth in the 300 meter hurdles, Zach Waldman finished sixth in the 3,200 meter run, and Kellen Zimmer finished sixth in the high jump. 

In the relays, Norwell was second in the 4,100, third in the 4×800, and sixth in the 4×400. 

The Lady Knights were led by Claire Bailey, who finished second in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. 

Emma Dummer also finished second in high jump.

Makenzee Kahn took third in the 1,600 meter run and fourth in the 3,200. Makenzie Fuess took third in the long jump and sixth in the 100 meter dash. Ali Riley finished third in the 800 meter run.

Skyla Tomasek placed fourth in shot put and fifth in discus. Addy Archbold finished fourth in the 400 meter dash, and Maddy Reinhard finished fourth in the 800 meter run. 

Shae Brooks placed fifth in high jump, Haleigh Reinhard finished sixth in the 1,600 meter run, and Alana Cady came in sixth in the 400 meter dash. 

Norwell’s girls also won the 4×400 meter relay while finishing second in the 4×800 and fifth in the 4×100. 

Both schools return to action on Tuesday. Bluffton will head to Heritage, while Norwell will travel to Huntington North.
