Bluffton’s track and field teams combined to place sixth with 55 points in Saturday’s Oak Hill relays.
Individually, Gus Martinez won the 300 meter hurdles and took second in the long jump. Carter McConnell placed third in high jump, and Jacob Landis placed seventh in the discus.
The meet was scored with the boys’ and girls’ events being combined in a relay format.
The Tigers’ throwers performed the best as a unit. In shot put, Johnny Cruz, Cameron Farmer, Alexandria Mackenzie, and Lauren Reiff combined to place third. In discus, Landis, Tavin Frees, Reiff, and Corina Rader combined to place third as well.
The long jump and upperclassmen 4×400 meter relay both placed third as well. Martinez, Anthony Cruz, Elsa Corkwell, and Rosa Chichava teamed up in the long jump, and McConnell, Markis Crosbie, Leslie Sprankles, and Ryleigh Johnson combined to make the 4×400.
The upperclassmen 4×100 meter relay of Martinez, Jon San Juan, Johnson, and Reiff took fourth, as did the 4×800 underclassmen relay of Jude Baumgartner, Tyler Godwin, Alydia Bertsch, and Maryn Schreiber.
The shuttle hurdle relay of Martinez, Drew Hunt, Corkwell, and Chichava took fifth.
Bluffton’s teams will return to action on Tuesday at Jay County.
