Preliminary plea of not guilty entered for Yull T. Bailey Jr., Bluffton, charged with one count of criminal trespass, a Class A misdemeanor. Larry Mock appointed public defender.
On Feb. 24, Bailey was allegedly at an apartment complex in Bluffton where he had previously been warned not to return to or he would be arrested for trespassing.

Preliminary plea of not guilty entered for Keaton Dale Detrow, 21, Ossian, charged with domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor, and domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old, a Level 6 felony. Bond continued at $5,000, surety only. Allison Sprunger appointed public defender.
Detrow is charged with striking a woman in the mouth while she was holding a child in the 300 block of West Mill Street, Ossian, Feb. 27. An argument reportedly had started between the two over Detrow’s video game playing.

Preliminary plea of not guilty entered for Colin Gosnowsji, 39, Celina, Ohio, charged with possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor, possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor, and speeding, a Class C infraction. Bond continued at $1,500. Jeffrey Stineburg appointed public defender.
On Feb. 25, a Bluffton police officer pulled over a maroon passenger car on Creek Drive near Ind. 124 after receiving a report of a speeding car headed into Bluffton on Ind. 124 from the east. Detrow was the driver of the car.
The officer noted in his report to the court that he had clocked Detrow at 65 mph-50 zone. As he was speaking with Detrow about the speeding, the officer reported that he could smell an odor of raw marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
Detrow at first reportedly denied the presence of marijuana in the vehicle but upon further questioning allegedly admitted there was.
A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up some “dabs,” a slang term for a waxy substance made from THC oil. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.
The officer also reportedly located a glass smoking pipe with residue and an unopened white package containing labeled TAT 2 Premium Cannabis.

Preliminary plea of not guilty entered for David Michael Womack, 39, Huntington, charged with 23 counts of invasion of privacy with a prior conviction for the same offense, all Level 6 felonies. Bond continued at $115,000. Larry Mock appointed public defender.
Womack was incarcerated at the Wells County Jail in late January when he allegedly used the jail’s Chirp communication system to contact a woman with whom he had been ordered by a Huntington County judge to have no contact. The no contact order was in connection with a criminal case in Huntington County filed Aug. 26, 2021, in which Womack has been charged with strangulation and domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, both Level 6 felonies; resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor; and an habitual offender enhancement.

Adron Lamont Smith, 47, Toledo, Ohio, pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalency of .15 percent or more with a passenger less than 18 years of age in the vehicle, a Level 6 felony.
Sentenced to 545 days in prison, with all but 14 days suspended — credited as time served, and placed on probation for 531 days.
Ordered to submit a DNA sample, pay all costs associated with his blood test and pay court costs and probation fees.
As part of a plea agreement, charges of neglect of a dependent, a Level 6 felony, and no valid driver’s license in his possession, a Class C infraction, were dismissed.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a traffic accident on I-69 just north of 292 mile marker in the southbound lanes at 5:48 a.m. June 16, 2019.
Smith explained that he and his girlfriend and the child they had in common were heading south on I-69 in a vehicle when Smith and the woman became embroiled in an argument. The woman reportedly grabbed the steering wheel of the vehicle and caused it to swerve off the road into the ditch.
The woman then exited the vehicle and started carrying the child south on I-69. Reportedly both Smith and the woman smelled of alcohol.
Smith failed field sobriety tests and blew a .215 percent alcohol concentration equivalency on a Breathalyzer test.

Jamie J. Haag, 43, rural Markle, pleaded guilty to theft with a prior conviction for the same or a similar offense, a Level 6 felony.
Sentenced to a year in prison, with all but two days suspended — credited as time served, and placed on probation for 363 days.
Ordered to serve 80 days of home detention, submit a DNA sample, pay restitution of $103.39 to Walmart Stores East LP and pay court costs and probation fees.
As part of a plea agreement, eight other counts of theft with a prior conviction for the same or a similar offense, all Level 6 felonies, were dismissed.
Video surveillance at the Bluffton Walmart Supercenter allegedly captured Haag stealing from the store on nine separate occasions beginning Sept. 24 and finally terminating Nov. 19 when one of the store’s asset protection employees noticed that Haag had scanned two pairs of pants together, but only drew one of the pairs across the universal price code scanner at the self-checkout aisle at the store.
The employee managed to use the store’s security camera footage to capture an image of the license plate of the vehicle Haag arrived in.
On Sept. 24, Haag is alleged to have failed to scan a pack of pencils. On Sept. 30 she is alleged to have skip scanned two packs of Hershey’s chocolate bars. On Oct. 11 she is alleged to have skip-scanned Playstation socks and a Halloween bag. On Oct. 13 she is alleged to have skip-scanned four packs of Hershey’s chocolate bars and a pack of KISS fake nails. On Oct. 15 she allegedly skip-scanned a pair of men’s boxer briefs and a bunch of bananas. On Nov. 15 she is alleged to have skip-scanned three avocados, 12 fruit cups and a variety box of snack chips. On Nov. 16 she is alleged to have skip-scanned a single apple. On Nov. 18 it was the pants and then on Nov. 19, she is alleged to have skip-scanned two face masks.
In all, the total value of all the alleged stolen items is $103.39.

One-day jury trial set for 8:30 a.m. July 15 for Sandra D. Manns, 53, Bluffton, charged with residential entry, intimidation, and possession of a narcotic drug, all Level 6 felonies.
