INCIDENTS

City:

Friday, 3:02 p.m., residence in the 2500 block of North Main Street. Caller reported he was tricked into giving a scam artist his credit card number and some cash.

Saturday, 7:39 a.m., Pine Grove Apartments. Caller reported a couple was yelling and fighting and throwing things down the stairs. Officer responded and took information for a report.

Saturday, 2:15 p.m., Pak-A-Sak convenience store, 204 W. Wabash Street. Someone drove away without paying for $23 in gas.

Saturday, 7:37 p.m., Bluffton Regional Medical Center emergency room, 303 S. Main St. Caller reported that an official from Praxis substance abuse treatment dropped off a patient who showed up early at the Praxis facility. Officer located the woman and got her a room at the Budget Inn for the night.

Saturday, 7:48 p.m., Phil’s One Stop convenience store, 1303 S. Main St. Caller reported someone in a black SUV ran over a sign at the store and left the scene without stopping.

Sunday, 7:03 a.m., residence in the 400 block of East Arnold Street. Caller reported that a male acquaintance entered his residence without permission looking for his keys.

Sunday, 7:51 a.m., Family Farm and Home, 8990 N. Main St. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. No sign of foul play found.

Sunday, 8:19 a.m., Walmart Supercenter, 2100 N. Main St. Report that someone in the store was attempting to steal items.

Sunday, 8:44 a.m., Main Motel, 1005 S. Main St. Caller claimed a man broke out the window to his room and was yelling obscenities. Officers spoke with the man and warned him for disorderly conduct.

Sunday, 12:31 p.m., apartment in the 700 block of West Wabash Street. Two men fighting. Officers responded. Situation calmed. Neither wished to pursue the matter further. Officer returned at 4:02 p.m. and gave one of the men a disorderly conduct warning after a caller reported the man had returned and was trespassing. The man had been warned earlier for trespassing, but where he was located was not in violation of that warning.

Sunday, 12:51 p.m., Farm Credit Services, 1319 Baker Place. Burglar alarm. Officers responded. No sign of foul play found.

Sunday, 3:25 p.m., 1200 block of Manor Drive. Caller reported finding an unspent 9 millimeter bullet on the caller’s property.

Sunday, 5:05 p.m., Main Street at Monroe Street. Officer assisted a stranded motorist.

Sunday, 5:56 p.m., Washington Park. Teal and black mountain bike stolen from the park.

County:

Sunday, 4:54 p.m., 1200N between 750E and 800E. Someone dumped eight large trash bags in the middle of the road creating a traffic hazard.

Sunday, 8:07 p.m., Ossian Deli, 404 N. Main St. Officer requested to remove a regular customer who had become upset and was yelling at employees. The man was upset not with the employees but because he had locked himself out of his residence. Officer located a relative who assisted the man in returning to his residence.

Sunday, 10:27 p.m., residence on 200N west of 400W. Sheriff’s deputies responded on a report of two men trying to break into the residence. That call turned out to be unfounded, but deputies did locate a woman, identified as Breeanna Renae Dedrick, 25, Bluffton, who had an active warrant for her arrest for violating probation. She was placed under arrest. No bond was set.

Monday, 6:24 a.m., 100E near 900N. Northern Wells Community Schools bus driver reported an oncoming semi clipped the mirror of the school bus he was driving and then continued on without stopping. Incident under investigation.

Ossian:

Monday, 12:13 p.m., Ossian All American Deli, 404 N. Jefferson St. Report of a man in his mid-20s with no shirt on sitting in front of the store’s window. Officer were requested to remove the man. He left before an officer arrived but was located by the officer walking a short distance away. The officer spoke with the man. 

ACCIDENTS

City:

Saturday, 11:33 a.m., Main Street at Elm Street. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driven by John S. Studebaker, 65, rural Poneto, hit a 2012 Chevrolet Impala driven by Shane L. Williams, 45, Portland, from behind. Damage exceeded $1,000.

Saturday, 4:34 p.m., Walnut Street at the intersection of an alley between Main Street and Johnson Street. John M. Ringger, 18, rural Bluffton, was northbound in the alley in a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Michael D. Wood, 39, Bluffton, was westbound on Walnut Street in a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt. Ringger failed to yield to Wood and the collision between the two vehicles caused more than $2,500 damage.

Monday, 7:56 a.m., Dustman Road at Garr Street. David S. Sliger, 55, Chrubusco, was eastbound on Main Street in a 2012 Ford F-350 pickup truck. Sliger was in the inside lane of the two eastbound lanes. Lee A. Harnish, 60, rural Bluffton, was eastbound in the outside lane in a 2006 Chevrolet DLT. Sliger changed lanes and collided with the Chevrolet causing more than $1,000 damage.

County:

Sunday, 9:58 p.m., 300W south of 300N. Cameron L. Mayer, 33, rural Warren, hit a deer with his 2000 Ford F-350 pickup truck. Damage to the truck exceeded $5,000.

Monday, 7:31 a.m., Ind. 116 near 150N. Davis Miller, 17, Ossian, hit a deer with a 2014 Honda Civic. Damage to the car exceeded $1,000.

Friday, 2:42 p.m., Utz Quality Foods, 705 W. Dustman Rd. Fire alarm. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. No fire. Company was working on the alarm.

Saturday, 1:50 a.m., Utz Quality Foods, 705 W. Dustman Road. Fire alarm. Bluffton Fire Department dispatched. No fire. False alarm.

Sunday, 5:06 a.m., 613 Cedar Road, Bluffton Woods mobile home park. Car fire. The vehicle was fully involved when firefighters arrived and although they had it out in 10 minutes, the Lincoln owned by Kenneth and Trisha Humphrey of Bluffton was a total loss.
