Sunday, 5:25 a.m., Bluffton Regional Medical Center emergency room, 303 S. Main St. Report of a belligerent male in the emergency room refusing to wear a mask as required by hospital policy. Officers responded. The man put on a mask.
Sunday, 5:31 a.m., residence in the 800 block of Creek Drive, Bluffton Woods mobile home park. Officers requested to remove an unwanted person from the residence.
Sunday, 5:34 a.m., Pak-A-Sak convenience store, 904 S. Main St. Someone drove away without paying for gas.

Friday, 4:51 p.m., U.S. 224 near 300W. Sheriff’s deputy assisted a motorist with a flat tire.
Friday, 10:30 p.m., report of an erratic driver westbound on U.S. 224 approaching Markle. The caller reported the vehicle traveled off the north side of the road and became stuck in the soft ditch. Sheriff’s deputies responded and located the vehicle, which was stuck but was in reverse gear. The driver was slumped over the steering wheel. Fearing the driver may be suffering a medical problem and the fact that the vehicle was still in gear, one of the deputies smashed out the driver’s side front window, reach in put the vehicle in park and turn it off. The action awakened the driver. The investigating deputy observed in his report that the driver, identified as Samuel Mack Macdonald, 21, Andrews, smelled of alcohol, appeared intoxicated and behaved like he was intoxicated, and blew a .202 percent alcohol concentration equivalency on a certified breath test conducted at the Wells County Jail. Macdonald reportedly declined to take field sobriety tests, acted belligerently toward officers and hospital staff trying to draw his blood. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction for the same or a similar offense, a Level 6 felony; operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangering a person, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle with an alcohol concentration equivalency of .15 percent or more, a Class A misdemeanor. Bond set at $5,000.
Friday, 11:45 p.m., New Holland Tri County, 2675S-Ind. 1. Burglar alarm. Sheriff’s deputies responded. No sign of foul play found.
Saturday, 3:47 p.m., residence on 1100S east of the Grant County line in Jackson Township. Burglar alarm. Sheriff’s deputy responded. The alarm was accidentally tripped by the new homeowners.
Saturday, 9:32 p.m., Andersons, 219 W. Main St., Poneto. Burglar alarm. Deputies responded. No sign of foul play found.
Sunday, 10:22 a.m., deputies, Wells County EMS and Bluffton Fire Department responded were dispatched to a residence in Wellsburg on a report of a unresponsive 61-year-old male. Wells County Coroner contacted.
Ossian:
Saturday, 5:35 p.m., Jefferson Street north of LaFever Street. While monitoring traffic, an Ossian police officer decided to check the license plate of a vehicle and discovered that the registered owner, Jamie Ortiz, Fort Wayne, had a suspended driver’s license. The officer pulled the vehicle over south of 400N on Ind. 1 and cited Ortiz into Wells Superior Court for driving while suspended with a prior conviction, a Class A misdemeanor, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance, a Class A infraction. Ortiz had a previous conviction in Allen County Superior Court Feb. 16 for driving while suspended, a Class A infraction.

Friday, 12:15 p.m., Ind. 124 just east of 500E. Alivia F. Hamilton, 16, Bluffton, was driving a 2000 Mercury Cougar east on Ind. 124 when the car dropped off the right side of the road. Hamilton was unable to correct the course of the vehicle before it was pulled down off the soft shoulder and crashed into a Bluffton Utilities electric pole. Damage exceeded $1,000.
Saturday, 1:54 a.m., 750E at 1100N. Austin Rogers, 20, rural Bluffton, was driving a 2011 Dodge Charger east on 1100N when he failed to stop the vehicle at preferential 750E. The Charger collided with a southbound 2015 Jeep Wranger driven by Rexette Goeglein, 62, rural Ossian. Following the crash, the Wrangler ran over a Verizon phone box and slid up into the front yard of Jack Stinson, 7576E-1100N, leaving ruts in the yard. Damage exceeded $10,000.

Sunday, 5:06 a.m., 600 block of Cedar Road. Car fire. Bluffton Fire Department paged. Fire under control at 5:16 a.m.
ARRESTS
Ryan Martin Charleston, 40, Bluffton; theft, a Level 6 felony; disorderly conduct, a Class B misdemeanor; driving while suspended with a prior conviction for the same offense, a Class A misdemeanor; and operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a prior conviction for the same or a similar offense, a Lavel 6 felony. Bond set at $12,500.
