Wells Superior Court

Civil Cases

Complaint for possession and for non-payment of rent totaling $835 filed by Maple Grove Estates mobile home park, Bluffton, against tenant Gary Hurley.

Challenge Filed

Three formal challenges have been filed with the Wells County Clerk’s office by Wells County Republican Party Chairman Zach Rodgers.

Rodgers is challenging the validity of the filings by three people who are seeking to be elected Republican Party delegates — Ashley and Mitchell Peterson and Cierra Thompson, all from Bluffton. Rodgers is claiming that none of the three have the required voting history of Republican votes.

The matter is now referred to the Wells County Election Board, which may either side with Rodgers and toss out the filings, or it can side with the Petersons and Thompson and allow their candidacies in the May primary election stand.

Wells County Clerk Beth Davis said that the election board has until Feb. 24 to make its decision on the challenges. She added that this is the first time since she has been clerk that someone has challenged a candidacy as a delegate.

Declares Candidacy

A declaration of candidacy by a Democratic, Libertarian, or Republican Party candidate when no town primary is conducted in 2022 has been filed with the Wells County Clerk’s office by Dennis Kammerer, Zanesville, Republican.
