The Wells County Historical Society is collecting information about the one-room schools in the county in an effort to produce an informative book.

Those with information, stories or memories can mail materials and information to Well County Historical Museum, P.O. Box 143, Bluffton, IN 46714 or call the corresponding number:

• Harrison and Lancaster township schools: 260-403-0387

• Jefferson, Rockcreek, Union schools: 260-227-0465

• Chester, Jackson, Liberty and Nottingham schools: 317-385-6665

The society is also looking for pictures of the 100 one-room schoolhouses that once existed in Wells County.

Those with pictures can message the society through Facebook messenger, post them on the society’s Facebook page, mail them or contact Connie Brubaker to set up a meeting.

The society can return photos after scanning if that indication is made with the photo.
