INCIDENTS

Ossian:

Thursday, 10:17 p.m., Ossian Tavern, 103 S. Jefferson St. Passerby reported a man out in front of the tavern was pulling a woman’s hair. Officer responded. The man had left. The officer spke with the woman who did not wish to pursue the matter further.

Friday, 10:24 a.m., Ossian Health and Rehabilitation, 215 Davis Road. Resident reported theft of $685 in cash.

Friday, 12:28 p.m., residence in the 200 block of East Mill St. Caller reported when she left her house to go to work, she discovered that her vehicle had been stolen. Officer investigated and discovered that the vehicle had actually been repossessed by the financier.

Friday, 2:07 p.m., Linder Oil, 820 Industrial Parkway. Caller reported that several of the company’s trucks had been ransacked around 4 a.m. New Years Day and several tools had been stolen.

Saturday, 10:10 a.m., Berne Apparel, 2501E-850N. While patrolling South Jefferson Street, an Ossian police officer spotted a white Chevrolet Impala that appeared to be exceeding the speed limit. The officer then reportedly witnessed the vehicle pass another vehicle on the right. The officer turned around and started following the Impala. It reportedly turned westbound onto Industrial Parkway and sped up to a speed well in excess of the posted speed limit, the officer observed in his report. The passenger in the Impala then reportedly threw two black objects from the car. The vehicle finally pulled over near Berne Apparel. The officer ordered both the driver and the front seat passenger out of the vehicle. Three sheriff’s deputies responded for backup. Reportedly what had been thrown from the vehicle was a 9 millimeter SCCY handgun and a Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun, numerous rounds of ammunition and a tactical light for a handgun. The driver of the vehicle, identified in the report as Damon B. Marquart, 18, Bluffton, was detained for questioning and then released to the custody of his mother. His passenger, identified as Skylar Patterson, age and address not listed, was arrested for possession of a handgun by a violent felon, a Level 4 felony.

Saturday, 12:54 p.m., Ossian Deli, 404 N. Jefferson St. Panic alarm. Officer responded. Alarm accidentally tripped.

Sunday, 200 block of South Siebold Street. Caller reported a suspicious silver Volkswagen sedan parked in front of his residence and then pulled forward and parked in front of the neighbor’s residence. A woman got out of the vehicle with a flashlight and looked into the trunk of the car. The woman got back into the car and the car left the area. An officer checked, but did not see any vehicles matching the description.
