Kevin L. King, 67, of Bluffton, passed away Monday morning, Oct. 26, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Kevin was born in Decatur on Sept. 12, 1959, to Donald E. and Judith M. (Wheeler) King. He married Beth A. (Oliver) at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton on April 23, 1988, and she survives.

Kevin graduated from Southern Wells High School in 1977. He spent several years working at K-Mart in Bluffton before beginning a 41-year career as a lineman with the City of Bluffton Utilities. His work was much more than a job; it gave him some of the best views of the community he loved so dearly and countless opportunities to connect with others. Through his work, he built many lasting friendships and took great pride in serving the community he called home.

Kevin was a devoted member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton, where he often volunteered his trade skills and helped with general maintenance. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, splitting wood and tending to his bees. Beekeeping brought him tremendous joy, not only through caring for the bees but also through the many friendships he formed by sharing his honey with others.

One of Kevin’s favorite times of the year was Street Fair week. He could often be found volunteering at the church booth, happily talking with anyone and everyone who stopped by. He was so busy visiting with people that he sometimes forgot about the food he was preparing. His friendly nature, love of conversation and willingness to lend a hand made him a familiar and cherished face in the community.

Above all, Kevin loved his family. Watching his grandchildren grow brought him tremendous joy. He had a particularly soft spot for the babies. His family was the center of his world, and the time he spent with them was among his greatest blessings.

In addition to his wife, Beth, Kevin is survived by his mother, Judith King of Bluffton; a daughter, Kelly (Darrel) Massman of Decatur; two sons, Kent (Alesha) Rockwell and Justin (Ashleigh) King, both of Bluffton; a brother, Rick (Kathy) King of Bluffton; eight grandchildren, Zachary, Dakota and Kaleigh Massman, Grady, Grace, Dottie and Denver Rockwell, and Tucker King; four step-grandchildren, Keenan, Kaleb, Emma and Kesler Shepard; two great-grandchildren, with another on the way; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald E. King.
