On Saturday, Nov, 2, the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to a dispatch of a personal injury ATV accident, on Adams County Road 500 W in Preble Township.
Paul E. Ruble of rural Decatur was found to have been operating a 2001 Yamaha Raptor 660 RVC. It was found that sometime during the overnight, prior to the dispatch, Ruble had operated the ATV, traveling west in an area of the yard at his residence and the back of the vehicle began going in a sideways motion. The vehicle came into contact with a concrete driveway, causing it to flip. Ruble was partially thrown from the vehicle as well as partially pinned under it and the crash caused him to impact the concrete driveway. During the investigation it is believed that alcohol may have contributed to the crash. Post-crash investigation, medical testing, will be conducted by the Adams County Coroner’s office
Ruble was found by his wife during the early morning hours when she discovered that he had not returned home yet. It’s believed that Ruble’s accident had occurred a length of time prior to being discovered and he wasn’t found for some time after the accident, as there was an accumulation of frost on the ATV. The accident was immediately called in upon discovery of it. Upon arrival of Adams Memorial EMS, Ruble was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Adams County Deputies were assisted at the scene by The Adams County Coroner’s Office, Adams County EMS and the Preble Fire Department.
The investigation was turned over to the Adams County Coroner’s Office and is still ongoing.
