YORKTOWN — Bluffton and Norwell represented Wells County at the 2024 boys’ golf regional on Thursday.
The two teams were in the top three in the sectional at Timber Ridge just six days prior, and teed off at The Player’s Club in Yorktown with 13 other schools.
The Knights were 12th at the event with a score of 349, and the Tigers 15th at 364.
Connor Klopfenstein of Bluffton and Derek Smith of Norwell were the top two local golfers at the event. The totals for both teams’ individuals are below.
Bluffton: Connor Klopfenstein (82), Declan Grieser (90), Kade Abbett (92), Kyler Potter (100), Anthony Hartman (116).
Norwell: Derek Smith (82), Cooper Sloan (85), Chase Holvey (86), Philip Gaier (96), Bodie Zimmer (100).
The top three teams in the regional advance. This time, it was Hamilton Southeastern with a score of 297 for the regional crown, Noblesville second at 305 and Fishers in third at 316. Cathedral just missed out by one stroke. Winners advance to the state meet next week at Prairie View Golf Club on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In addition, the top three individual golfers not on the winning three schools will advance in a separate tournament next week at the state level.
