Sentencing has been set for 8:30 a.m. March 15 for Reonte Moore, 23, Fort Wayne, who pleaded guilty in Wells Circuit Court Tuesday to one count of attempted murder, a Level 1 felony.

As part of the plea agreement reached between Wells County Prosecutor Colin Andrews and Moore’s attorney, Eric Orr, one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent offender, a Level 4 felony, will be dismissed.

The agreement also calls for the sentencing of Moore to be left to the discretion of the court. The sentence will include an enhancement because a firearm was used in commission of the offense.

Moore, who reportedly has admitted to belonging to the Fort Wayne street gang GDN, is accused of shooting another Fort Wayne man in the parking lot at Ossian’s Berne Apparel Oct. 22, 2021. Both men were employed by the clothing manufacturer at the time of the shooting.

Jayana Herman, 23, a Fort Wayne woman, and who also reportedly has admitted to investigators that she is also a member of the street gang GDN, was charged with bringing the gun to Moore. In an interview with investigators she reportedly implied that the shooting was gang related.

None of the people involved in the shooting have any connection with either Ossian or Wells County besides being employed at Berne Apparel.

Herman is set to be sentenced at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 after pleading guilty Sept. 29, 2022, to one count of assisting a criminal, a Level 5 felony.

A 10-day jury trial originally scheduled for Moore, which commenced Monday, was cancelled.
