Just for the fun of it this Christmas, why not focus on having a “Merry Heart”? Who says that a person can’t dance, run, and jump just for the fun of it? Who says that one cannot laugh so hard that tears start to flow? Have you ever done anything that was considered goofy, silly, and fun? I heard once that sustained hilarity was good for the soul, and good for the heart.
A comedy a day keeps the doctor away. It’s true! Research studies have shown that ailing patients (in the hospital) have fewer symptoms when exposed to 30 minutes of comedy daily. If having a merry heart can help an ill patient in the hospital, just imagine what it can do for you.
Christmas is upon us. Make sure to have a “Merry Heart Christmas.”
• Bring a bottle of champagne (or sparkling grape juice, if you prefer), and a bag of kazoos to your next get-together or celebration.
• Pass out all kinds of funny, novelty pens for Christmas. (Or any time of year). And use them! They are usually under $3.
• Any kind of gadget that makes funny noises is always interesting. I once had a “laugh box” disguised as a clown doll. It was a hit!
• This weekend, go ahead and wear that rubber animal nose, that red clown nose, or those silly-looking glasses.
• Take the “Laugh-A-Day” Challenge. Send a joke, cartoon, or something funny to a different person every day for a week.
• Want to de-stress? Keep a pair of wind up “chattering teeth” on your desk at all times.
• Have some fun with food coloring. Blue potatoes, purple pasta, green rice. You get the idea.
• While taking a coffee, tea or lunch break, listen to something funny.
• Turn around and face backwards in an elevator. I dare ya! 🙂
• Wear a funny tie, mismatched socks, only one sock, or a silly hat.
There are so many ways to have a little fun this Christmas. Try to be a little more light-hearted this holiday season. Think of your own funny ideas. Then make a few of them happen. Have a positive attitude, and learn to laugh, even at yourself.
If you are feeling overworked, stressed, or burned out, it’s time to put a little more “funny” into your day. Everyone is busy at this time of year. That’s why it is so important to stop, think, and make sure that you have a “Merry Christmas” and a “Merry Heart.” Have a very “Merry Heart Christmas.”
