Jill Baughan

Jill Baughan, an author and speaker and a Bluffton native, will speak at First Baptist Church in Bluffton from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Baughan’s topic will be “Find Joy No Matter What,” which is also the headline on her website, www.jillbaughan.com, and the title of her podcast.

There is no admission fee to hear Baughan, but pre-registration is requested at 824-1558.

In the “about Jill” section of her website, she is described as a communicator who, “through adventure and play, helps people find joy, no mater what else is happening.”

She says she “learned to laugh and throw up at the same time while riding the Tilt-a-Whirl at the annual Bluffton Street Fair” and that she was  diagnosed early in life with an acute form of adultaphonia (the fear of entering the Land of Responsible Adulthood),

“This manifested itself most poignantly when, for many years, she went kicking and screaming from one stage of life to the next, ever concerned that now she would have to start behaving like a grownup,” the introduction continues.

Baughan is the author of two books, “Born to Be Wild: Rediscover the Freedom of Fun,” and “A Hope Deferred: A Couple’s Guide to Coping with Infertility.” She also is a contributor to a third book, “The Embrace of a Father.”

Baughan is the sister of Ted Ellis, the former mayor of Bluffton.
